We had the good fortune of connecting with Valyncia Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valyncia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think about risk, I think about reward more so than loss. I feel that greatness, innovation, and monumental success comes from risk-taking. You have to train your mind to think opposite of the majority. If there isn’t anyone going against the grain, how can we expect to do anything unconventional? Risk has played an instrumental role in my life and career. It taught me about my capacity and how much I’m willing to stretch to walk in purpose and to sow good seeds for my legacy. I’ve walked away from opportunities and jobs knowing that they were/are boxing me in, and possibly hindering me from tapping into my fullest potential. I decided to bet on myself and invest in my visions by becoming an entrepreneur. I begin pitching my ideas/concepts, confident that they were solid and were birth from a place of authenticity and vulnerability–no blue print. Risk-taking has added value to my life, and reminded me of my untapped potential.

What should our readers know about your business?
Many will see my projects and clientele and are intrigued about what I do. As a consultant, I’ve been favored to work with a variety of notable brands/individuals and globally recognized corporations. In 2021, I plan to expand and offer clarity on my platform.

I don’t desire to box myself into one particular industry. But as I’ve grown in knowledge and understanding about my initial passion of sports business, I realized the power of the industry and athletes. I often reflect on Kobe Bryant who successfully transitioned into a Business Mogul. Lebron James developed I Promise School. The International Olympic Committee – IOC host global competitions which also have significant social and economic impact.

I am a marketing and management consultant that develops brand identity and strategy. I offer solution-based management services, which is ideal for auditing processes and procedures. I’ve been successful at educating, empowering and pushing agendas on behalf of my clients. In short form, my services are:

Client Relations

My clientele extends to athletes, entertainers, influencers, community activist, small and large corporation and non-profit organizations that seek tailor-made solutions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m the Queen of itineraries! If I had to host someone in my city, starting Friday afternoon, I would take them to them to eat at Pizits, and we will enjoy a few drinks at the bar. views. We’ll next migrate to downtown at Atomic- starting the night off with some nostalgic games like Uno and Connect 4. Then we’ll finish at Saferoom. For Saturday, we’ll definitely tap in for some brunch vibes at Bar Sabastian, a black owned rooftop bar at one of our popular parks, Railroad park. We’ll grab dinner at Half Shell and then explore Southside and Lakeview strip.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God – Without you, I am nothing and will be nothing. Thank you for the vision to live beyond myself and hope to continue.

I would like to shoutout my amazing family, without them loving me, covering me, pouring into me, and uplifting me, I’m not sure where I’d me. I come from entrepreneurial roots. Starting from nothing out of Docena/Ensley, Alabama, my family has owned and operated a restaurant, Top That Grille II, for over 25 years. We are trailblazers and risk-takers in our community, and the energy and will runs so deep to keep building. Because of them, I can’t quit, I won’t quit.

I also would like to shoutout my team Cultured to Create and Asthetik Bham founders Jamie and Tez Heard for giving me and other creatives a platform to explore their talents and wildest dreams!
