We had the good fortune of connecting with Valerie Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valerie Davis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am a nurturer. I find joy in taking care of people, assisting people when needed to ensure they are stress free. The key to the quality of Life is being refreshed, renewed and energized. My late but great Mother came to live with me when my children were younger many years ago, she became ill a few years later and I had the pleasure of taking care of her. While taking care of my Mom, I had a surgical procedure that at the time required me to need a bit more assistance at home for both myself and my Mom. My children, sisters, friends and my Mom CNA’s had to care for me for a while. During that time, I started thinking “what if there are other people in this same situation and what if they didn’t have the family or friends to take care of them as I do”. Well, that sparked the interest to start a business to make life easier for people who may be in need of minimum care when recovering from surgical procedures, with the continued thought of needed care for Senior loved ones. A couple of years later my dear Mother passed away. I promised my Mom and myself I would always serve God in the capacity of assisting Senior Citizens in varies ways. My love for my Mom, Senior Citizens and being a nurturer has allowed me to live out my passion and joy daily.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name “7Masons” is my lineage. My parents had 7 children, Mason is our last name. There are pieces of each of us that make up this successful business. I am excited that the business was created on our life experiences which sets us apart from any other service in our arena. I took care of my Mom for several years, I know the importance, I know the challenges some foreseen and some not. At the same time I know how rewarding it is, most of all I know the love and compassion and passion you must have. I was born a nurturer, I get it from my Mom. LOL!
I had surgery where as I needed assistance while caring for my Mom. I literally lived the need of providing a service like mine. I watched how experienced, loving, kind, gentle and real the CNA’s were and how hard they worked to ensure that my Mom got the best care possible. I felt the love, gratitude, satisfaction, trust and safety from my Mom and her caregivers. But most of all, I saw the joy and smiles, heard the laughter and conversation that was had. It brightens my heart, ignites the fire within me to provide an exceptional service for people in need of our services. I welcome the challenges; It’s not always easy, but I know one day I will be a Senior Citizen, and I will require a little more help. That is what keeps me pushing through the difficult times. That is what keeps the creative juices flowing to better the business for the people that require our services. For our SENIORS, we gladly provide transportation, medication reminders, errand running, shopping, meal preparation, household organization, travel, companionship sitting, respite care and fun activities to ensure involvement and communication. For our POST-OP clients we provide tailored assistance according to your personal requirements such as transportation, meal prep, medication reminder and assistance with daily activities just to name a few.
We, at 7MASONS, aspire to make life pleasurable and easier for our clients. We offer professional, customizable assistance delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness, pride, spirit, confidence and respect. I have been in your shoes! I am here to provide the solution!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course we would go shopping. We would go to Phipps Plaza, Lenox Mall, and Avalon of Alpharetta. We would visit Ponce City Market for more shopping and the atmosphere. While there we have to take advantage of the roof top and Visit Skyline park which has the most breath taking views of Atlanta. It’s a great place to have drinks and enjoy playing the games. Walking the Beltline will be an experience within it self. There are tons to see from people watching, restaurants, street art to entertainers and different types of Dogs. Atlantic Station has a lot to see as well, so we must go there. The High Museum has amazing art to be viewed and some times live music, we should definitely check that out. Botanical Gardens is simply amazing and soothing; we got to take in all it’s beauty not to mention some time there is entertainment provided.
I love to eat LOL – Breakfast or Brunch at Breakfast Boys and Gocha’s Breakfast Bar are a must. The food is great, good vibes and music. Nouveau would be good for food, drinks and dancing. For the best live music in Atlanta, we would go to St. James Live , City Winery and Suite Lounge. You can not go wrong with either of those.
We must hit my favorite restaurant which is Canoe, oh my God! The food is excellent the atmosphere is divine. Also one of the Southside’s most hidden gems would be Franks @ the old mill, great food and ambiance.
When it comes to having drinks and socializing we would hang out at Houston’s, St. Regis Bar, Bar Margot and Roof top at the Overland.
Well, you can never come to Atlanta and not visit two of the most talked about parks which are Piedmont Park and Centennial Olympic Park.
When it comes to my local favorites in my area. We must stop by JR Crickets, Frida’s Bar and Grill and the Krab Hut for Karaoke.
We will most definitely have a week worth of fun!!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My children, Tiviace and Semiah have been the absolute best! They understand why I love so hard and desire to be as helpful as possible. They are always encouraging me to be my best. My sisters/Momma’s (lol) Carrie, Clair and Melissa are forever pushing me to go after what I want and what I believe. My parents the late Robert and Mary Mason – Hence the business name “7MASONS Concierge Service” Through them I learned LIFE is really about your ENDURANCE level.. But, my MOM! without her the business would not exist. Loving her and taking care of her, was one of the best experiences of my life. My Mom is the reason for the GIVEBACK…..
My phenomenal friends and prayer warriors are forever in my corner. Knowing I have Grandsons (Zion & Carter ) and soon to be Granddaughter (Ashlyn) is more than enough reasons for the business to continue to prosper.
This is my tribe! All praises be unto my GOD!
