We had the good fortune of connecting with V. Renee Shepherd and Veronica Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi V. Renee Shepherd and, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Veronica: It honestly started with our desire to support each other as sisters. I was on a journey as a new mom to lose baby weight, and re-learn to love my new body and my sister was exploring the idea of owning her own dance studio. We decided to combine our fitness goals, business skills, and love for dance to support and empower other people – leading us to create V. Power Fit.

What should our readers know about your business?
V Power Fit is more than just a Dance Fitness company. While our fitness regimens are laced with high energy, fun, and inventive ways to stay active, our efforts have been dedicated to servanthood, support, and community.. As sisters and friends, we have embarked on our individual fitness journeys with the intent of supporting each other thru life’s trials and tribulations. As mothers, divorcees, survivors (V. Renee – breast cancer), and women in business, we both leaned on each other to overcome and ultimately, thru the creation of V Power Fit. we cultivated a growing community of people who are like-minded and results- driven. We are excited about our future in online fitness classes, in-person classes/events, and private boot camps (personal and corporate). We will continue to give back thru our Back-to-School fundraisers, parties with a purpose, and free workshops.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston Texas is filled with seasonal activities (like the rodeo), fascinating exhibits, and amazing concerts. We start our week off strong with a workout and a nutritional and tasty smoothie from That Stuff Nutrition. We frequently can be found enjoying Taco Tuesday at Christian Tailgate or Torchy’s. with a skinny margarita…or two. A few great eateries are the Turkey Leg Hut, Boheme, Max’s Wine Dive, Lucille’s and our staple restaurant The Breakfast Klub., Of course, brunch at Gracie’s, Upstairs, and Toasted Yolk are always welcomed in the plan. Our night life can only be considered grown and sexy with live music at O2 lounge on Thursday, Parma on Fridays, or Club 5015 (Almeda) all weekend long, We definitely enjoy dinner at Moxie’s, drinks and oxtail fries at 1515 lounge, or a mixture of dance and food at Kiss Restaurant. Houston also has some of THE best host. HPK and SODO will have you mingling, jamming, and traveling with some of Houston’s finest partygoers. We definitely don’t miss an opportunity to attend a Trap Fit class, Heels (Mirror Envy) class, or any of the V Power Fit classes held in Houston and the surrounding areas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
