Meet Ursula B | Podcaster

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ursula B and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ursula, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
In the past I would wear my “hustle” as a badge of honor, and a platinum card member of “team no sleep.” I was going HARD, and didn’t know that subconsciously I was trying to fill a void. I was also pouring into other’s while neglecting myself. Balance was foreign and non existent.
The SHIFT in balance came once I learned tools to prioritize myself.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the podcast host of Black Girls Getting Their SHIFT Together, LLC. My platform caters to mental health and wellness needs in the Black community.
Research shows that listening to narrative stories (much like podcasts) can stimulate multiple parts of your brain. What sets my podcast apart is that I stimulate mental imagery more intensely than watching TV or reading which causes listeners to pay more attention.
My biggest challenge was starting. I thought about everything that could go wrong while ignoring what could go RIGHT! The next challenge was being consistent. The biggest challenge is showing up as myself and not letting my insecurities highjack my gifts.
I’m still figuring it out, but I’m much better than when I started. I’m overcoming the challenges when I accepted that I was born with a gift, and said yes to what God has blessed me with…even if I thought I wasn’t ready. I decided to fill my fear with love!
I want the world to know that once you choose to SHIFT your mindset is when you realize you are allowed to do whatever you want!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Apres Diem- brunch bites
The Clermont Hotel Rooftop- for cocktails and sunsets
Any restaurant in the Highland Ave area- delicious dinner on the patios
I’m a new tennis lover so we will definitely go to The Atlanta open at Atlantic Station
