Meet Ursala Ragland | Freight Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ursala Ragland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ursala, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When we started our trucking company. Our thought process was building an empire doing something that we never thought we could do.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a small trucking company that runs Mainly intermodal freight within a 500 mile or less radius. We are different then most companies because we are very involved and we work as a true team. I am most proud of my ability to take a business I knew absolutely nothing about and made a million dollars within our second year. My husband and I got here through hard work and dedication. Their was many sleepless nights and many days crying because nothing was moving right! Trust the process” never give up” we made it. This was not easy at all. I still have times where I want to give up when I hit a road block. Instead I put my chin up and move forward until we over come it. Some of the lessons in this business I have learned are knowledge is power, love what you do and you will give it more energy, never settle for less. I want the world to know that no matter what you do in life if you don’t give it 110% you will only be cheating yourself and always trust the process and lastly nothing good happens over night.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Atlanta to visit I would take her many places downtown Atlanta, the aquarium, the Coca Cola factory and so many other places downtown. Now let us not forget about Stone Mountain. I would have to take her to eat at Papadueax the food is delicious. I still love the atmosphere of the Atlantic station too. I would enjoy going to the Cheesecake Factory too. Now last but not least the Fox theater.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give shoutouts to first my dad. My dad taught me so much in life and hard work pays off was at the top of the list. Then I would have to give shout out to my brother John Ragland. He has been an inspiration to me all my life because he is my younger brother but he is so much like my father. Which has shown me to never give up!!!! He is my hero everyday too!!! He is also a vet in the truck driving game!!!!
