Meet Underground Projectz | Hip Hop Influencer & Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Underground Projectz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Underground Projectz, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As someone who was born in the big city of Manhattan and raised in a family of musicians and partying, I aspired to become a hip hop artist and grew into a “90’s hip hop head”. The thought process behind starting Underground Projectz comes from taking a different turn in life by studying the music business and looking at hip hop culture as a whole from a different angle. I realized how important Hip Hop culture is to society and how its different elements plays a big role in the world. I thought to myself, how important would it be to create an online community and business that pays homage and support to hip hop artists, in addition to providing music services that can help push new music artists become the best version of themselves and have a platform to share their music to. That is the goal for Underground Projectz and I wanted to do something large that aligned with my passion so I can put my all into it. That’s Hip Hop.

What should our readers know about your business?
Underground Projectz is a platform for creatives, music artists, producers, DJ’s and much more. Underground Projectz provides a platform where you can find inspiration and see motivational quotes. It’s where you can come get the help or push you’ve been needing in your music journey. You’ll be able to find music services like management or creative direction and be able to market your music on the platform. You’ll be able to find unique photos, videos, and engaging posts of rappers all for your entertainment. Overall, it’s a community where all is welcome and everyone is unified. We support hip hop in a nutshell. Underground Projectz took a long time to come into existence. It took years of rapping, studying hip hop throughout the years and evolution, years of learning digital audio and live stage set up, attaining a Bachelors degree in Entertainment and Music Business and sitting with myself after acquiring all the skills needed and asking myself “what is your purpose and passion?” Everyone defines easy differently, yet when you learn to love, learn and know yourself… that’s what makes it easier to get to where you want to go in life. I’m most proud of how quickly Underground Projectz is growing daily. There has been many challenges to overcome. For example, I went to pursue a certificate for Digital Audio Production during my high school years and completed 2 years of schooling only to not come out with a certificate. The reason? Something that would piss anyone off. I was told the school boards rules changed and I would need to come back as a college student and complete another year. I had a 3.8 GPA, they still didn’t want to give me the certificate. At that time, I couldn’t go another year. I was moving back to NYC. I overcame this throughout years of frustration and then by continuing knowing that it’s not the end of the world and if this is really what I want to do in life then I will need to shake it off and move forward. It’ll be worth it in the end. One lesson I learned is if you really envision your life a certain way and accomplishing certain things, then you really have to want it so much that you’d overcome anything to get there. Even if that means investing in yourself and your business by acquiring the knowledge or skills to get there.
I want the world to know Underground Projectz is the #1 for Hip Hop Culture. If you’re on a music journey, we are here to push and support you! If you need some help, we have the sauce for you to grow bigger. And if you’re a fan of hip hop (like me), follow and share our social media pages. By doing so, you’ll show your love and pay homage to those who work hard in the music industry. Supporting us can go a long way and we will continue to support everyone who joins our community. Welcome to “UGP”!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s a slightly cool day in NYC, the weather is great. We’d start the day off in the Lower East Side of Manhattan around the tall buildings and skyscrapers. Next, hit a local diner in the area for some breakfast. Maybe even a bacon egg and cheese on a roll and a Snapple for an authentic NYC experience. After full bellies, we’d walk through the area and most likely head to Soho. This is where we can explore the boutiques, attend a pop up shop or event, do a little shopping and maybe run into a few celebrities. I seen A$AP Rocky and Cam’ron before, who knows who we will see next. After Soho, we will either take the train or walk to Chinatown or Little Italy depending on our taste buds and eat some delicious authentic cuisine. Next, one of my artists would already have a studio session in the city booked ahead of time so we would head there. At night, depending on the vibe or our energy levels, we’d get a sweet desert or maybe salty pretzels and go to the South Seaport and ride the ferry to Staten Island and back for some chill night vibes. If not, we would go to a lounge and enjoy hip hop night. You can’t forget the photo experience as we do all these things. You’ll be able to post photos with awesome backgrounds and after shopping, you’ll be fly.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my business partner who helps me with the little technical things that might stop us in our tracks causing roadblocks. He also was right by my side while formulating a business name. A big shoutout especially to every rapper who chased or currently chasing their dreams. They are the moving force when it comes down to a lifetime of support. They deserve the recognition being a part of hip hop.
