We had the good fortune of connecting with Ucheonye Maple and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ucheonye, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The habits that contributed to my effectiveness is being proactive, thinking of the end in mind and having a strength-based team that helps me provide the best customer service to my clients.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I am the founder of Aghaeze-Maple Enterprises, which is a leadership and business training company. We help high performing professionals start and grown their business and gain financial independence, financial freedom and control over their well being.  Our programs are part of the LEAP University which includes the Business Accelerator Program.  The Business Accelerator Program is a 6 month group coaching program that walks aspiring entrepuners step by step on how to create the foundation of their business that includes, branding, marketing, business financials and product/service development.

I was able to retire at the age of 44 and pursue entrepunership full-time.  After retiring, I had various people asking me how did I complete such a feat.  I found the need and I am now filling that gap. Many high performing, high achieving professionals working environments does not know how to harness their natural strengths and abilities hence, the professionals feel under valued.  I teach them how to start their business and leverage their strengths to get results easier, faster and quicker.  When clients sign up to be part of the Business Accelerator Program they know they are going to be positioned for success in their business, success in their life and success in their financial goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I love when my friends or family visit because it gives me an opportunity to rediscover what the DMV has to offer.  We would definitely get a spa  to relax and unwind.  We would then follow it up with a late lunch at a lounge that plays music or listen to poetry.

For the evening, I am a fan of comedy or plays. We would go to a comedy show in DC or a play to end the night with laughter or hope.

I would also want to take them to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would like to give credit to three people in my life. The first is my mother for being an example in demonstrating unwavering faith in the midst of chaos, opposition and poverty. The second person I would like to give credit to is my older sister Sherri, who provided me a stable environment and taught me about finances, self-worth and confidence. Between these two amazing women, they build the foundation for the success stories in my life.

Lastly, my husband who has been instrumental with being my cheerleader and my encourager in spite of all the odds and challenges that I have encountered.
