We had the good fortune of connecting with U Travie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi U, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The end goal for me looks like a successful music and film career with a beautiful farm like main home overseas and more. To break it down further, I’ve been writing and putting out music for about 3 years now and I’m wanting to take my career to the next level professionally and mentally. Creating and performing my original music has been the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever done and every experience is a new beginning for my confidence and aura. The goal is to experience and create a level of inspiration to the masses unlike any other medium or experience I could imagine. For me this is success as a recording artist. When it comes to film, I’ve always enjoyed being behind the scenes as a set designer, I truly enjoy setting the tone for stories visually and would love to have certain accolades in that realm by the end of my career. Personally, my end goal is to be able to show my family and loved ones a unique and healthy life while maintaining the space to create, teach, inspire and grow forever.

To describe my art would be complex, futuristic, passionate and alternative. I decided on the name “3” for my artistry because it’s up for interpretation and it’s quite ambiguous. I feel I’m different from others because of my experiences, I feel like I’m so passionate about music because a lot of my former clients didn’t get to make it to this side of the journey. I feel like I’ve gotten to where I am today based on my intuition, taking risks and being around certain clients I worked with. This part of my journey was very difficult because not only were there a lot of sleepless nights but you often are in situations that require you to trust the team and the client which was quite hard for me. It’s also hard when you have to say good bye to clients and friends who may have been a target of violence or drug abuse. Saying goodbye is. Never easy. I’ve learned that things in this industry are never what they seem and to feed people with a long handle spoon. I’d like the world to know that I have a pure and humble heart and so want nothing more than to promote positive self love and development. I also want to create music that speaks to people on a global scale – not just one type of person will like my music but a more versatile fan base.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love my best friend! If she was visiting I’d take her to all of the old spots we used to enjoy when she lived here. I’d also want to get into some luxury activities and local staples to create some dope photo moments. First stop would be to freshen up after a long flight, from there we’d go for food and drinks at a rooftop favorite of mine Spaceman, next we could do some light shopping at Lenox Mall for a walk through and people watching moment, next we’d do a park or bar to hang for a bit with beverages and good conversation. Another fun activity would involve showing her around to display how much the city has changed. The best way to do that is to park our car and catch the trolley downtown Atlanta for a night on the town. There’s a few places I’ve yet to try but I would definitely go to Kingstons to try the oxtail Mac n cheese patty or Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks since she’s from Philly. The best places to hang out are surprisingly outdoor like activities I find that I meet the most down to earth ; so fall festivals, day parties ,rooftop spots, ice bars and more.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family matriarch- my grandmother deserves this shoutout. A strong black woman that has taught me everything I know. She always allowed me to grow and be myself with no judgement or restraints. For this I’m grateful because without the space she provided me I probably wouldn’t have the strength or confidence to feel that I could reach for the stars and make my dreams come true.
