We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyric Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyric, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I been wanting to start my own business since I started my first job as a junior in high school, after that I knew I wasn’t capable to handle working for someone else. Being a entrepreneur opens up many doors for a person to just be tied down to one source of income that doesn’t even pay you to enjoy life. In 2017 I started to actually push myself to be capable of making sales through my creativity so I put most of my artwork and designs on clothes that started selling and being shipped to other states. After that I knew I was able to make profit off doing what I love to do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A lot of people jump into the world of fashion and think that’s it’s a easy set up for life and it isn’t. It’s time, patience and even more time that has to be put into owning your own anything. I think working everyday towards what I want helped/helps me get to where I am today regardless of if I’m not where I wanna be; I am claiming the stairwell to success. Along the way I learned many key steps and many lessons. One of them being: to follow the road less traveled and to enjoy life while doing so. I want the world to know that RÜK is a self owned brand that pushes for the limit of others who feel they want to make a statement with their clothing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Atlanta it’s a lot of things to do and pursue to have a great time. I would first take my friends to enjoy the aesthetics of the city because who doesn’t love a productive city. Then I would chauffeur my friend to the prince market to get a brighter scale of the urban life in our city. It’s a lot of places but for one day so to start rooftops would be a key to get a glimpse of the city for the day life and night life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This dream is deserving not only to me but to some of my family who helped my create designs, helped me get through thought processes and or helped me hands on with the idea of sewing and designing. My family stays on me about creating and manifesting what I want and need to run a business off my creativity. Some days when I’m in a creative block they let me know what I can do to get out of it, because that’s what I do; I create.
