We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyran Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyran, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Sooo When I Graduated From Miller Grove High School in 2018, I went to Albany State University I Wasn’t Really Sure Of What I Want To Do So I Was Trying A lot Of Things But Then I Came Home For Personal Reasons And I Started Making Custom Clothes For Myself And People Saw And Was Asking me To Make Them Some Clothes So That’s What Made Me Start My Brand But As Far As The Name, I Went Through Like 4 Other Names But In Life I Don’t Want A Specific Amount Of Amount Of Money, It Will Be A Rack Race ,The More Money I Get, The More Money I Want ,RackRacer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my authenticity most of my designs come straight from me and what I go through. It’s nobody in my ear telling me what to make…..It’s like I have these moments when I just get a huge creative jump then boom I just follow it.Another thing is I’m big on giving like if I’m able to give back I am like 100 percent like this summer I’m doing a lot to give back to the hood that raised me .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I’m from the EastSide of Atlanta,We got real good eats over here NoCap.I would most definitely take them to my hood and get them some ranch dance wings from Wings In A Basket (A restaurant in Scottdale, Ga) or Hit the Westside And Go to Sleepy Potato Fasho. As far as places to visit we probably go bowling catch a Atlanta Hawks game depending on the timing or I’ll take them on top of Stone Mountain to catch a vibe with a view.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I give credit to my city, my people who I’m around like that’s my influence,I’m not from the city of Atlanta but where I’m from we got that Atlanta Swag for a fact.
