We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyomi Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyomi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I began doing research on the field of sexual health back in 2009, I didn’t see many sources speaking to black women about sexual health and wellness. So it made sense for me to provide a solution and jump Into the work as a sex blogger and pleasure coach. I knew that it was important to establish myself not only as an authority in the field, but as an incorporated business. In 2013 I officially incorporated and I’ve been soaring ever since. It brings me joy to assist women in liberating themselves sexually and becoming more connected with what brings them pleasure. My business consists of sensual fitness training, sex coaching, sex writing and hosting virtual and in person workshops for single women and couples. I knew that black women needed a voice to feel more connected to sexuality and I’ve been able to connect with women from all around the world.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My work as a sex coach and tantric practitioner is still fairly unknown by most of the world, and this is what makes me feel excited about the future of my impact. There wasn’t a blueprint for me to follow to start my business or even grow it, and I learned everything through trial and error. I began my business with the intent to support and educate black women about sexuality, and to help remove shame from the idea of owning one’s sexual freedom. My mission is simple, but the work isn’t always easy. Along the way I’ve learned that everyone won’t resonate with my voice or work, but those that do are greatly impacted by it. I want the world to know that my brand is forever expanding and I study constantly to make sure I have the proper tools to support my clients wherever they are in their journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When in Atlanta I enjoy taking in local restaurants and live music, as well as heading outside of the city for hikes and nature walks. Buckhead has amazing shopping, fine dining and night life, and is one of my favorite places to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give credit to my father Mr. Morgan for encouraging me to use my writing on purpose. He saw the gift that I possessed for the written word and knew that my work could help shift consciousness in the world, and I’m forever grateful for his insight. I give credit to my mother Mrs. Morgan for allowing me to watch documentaries about human sexuality in my teenage years and read books that gave me the basic knowledge about sexual health. Last, but not least, I honor and uplift my twin sister J. Larae for being my first investor, biggest cheerleader and sounding board to test all of my first ideas on. Without my family, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
