We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Hair and beauty has always been an interest of mine since I was young, but I never really thought about about having my own business. While I was in college all of that changed as I saw that there was a growing demand for services that I was already provide for myself and my friends. Initially there wasn’t much serious thought behind starting my business as I had intentions of continuing a career in the medical field and I started my business solely as a side hustle just to use my talents to make extra cash while in school. Never would I have thought that this journey would lead me to uncovering my true passion!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
W.G.S is a beauty brand that specializes in high quality human hair wigs and products. Our niche is creating crowns that mimic natural hair. We create solutions for everyone from those who are dealing with hair loss, to those who simply want to switch their hairstyle up and feel more confident. Being a business owner in the digital age I learned that it is important to stay consistent and be persistent. Running a business is not easy, but it is fulfilling when you truly care about what you’re doing. W.G.S was able to get to where it is today because I vowed to myself that I would not work harder for someone else than I do for myself. What did this mean for me? It meant that if I went to my day job, I made sure that when I got home I put the same if not MORE effort into my business and creating wealth for myself and future generations as I just did for someone else’s company.

The most important lesson that i’ve learned along this journey is that it’s only You vs. You. What you get out of it is a reflection of what you put into it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my friends and family who have supported me and been my cheerleaders along this journey. Special shoutout to my Father who has lifted me back up when self-doubt would creep in and for always being there with words of encouragement when I need them.
