We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always loved working with the Film Club in my high school. I’ve already had experience working with video/photo cameras well before I got my own. It was a passion for me as the camera allowed me to show my creativity and how the world is perceived by me. So once I got my camera, I not only was able to show others a part of myself but also it could be a main source of income over time as I continue to invest in myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is that I am extremely passionate about giving my best work to clients who book me. They get the opportunity to see my creative vision and love for what I do, which causes them to want to work with me in the future. I’m the most excited about how my business will grow over the next year, as I’ve been networking and connecting with people throughout my first year in college. I wouldn’t say my path to get to where I am today was hard, but I wouldn’t say it was easy as well. I’ve always wanted to put myself in positions to grow, and once I got into college that’s exactly what I did. I involved myself with clubs, organizations, and other people to help push my business. A lesson I learned along the way is that there’s nothing wrong with doing free work, where I was able to get the opportunity to gain clientele and hone my skills. I want the world to know that I am willing to work, to not only grow my brand but also grow as a person as well.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friend to Six Flags, I’ve always been a rollercoaster guy. I would also like to take my friend to a food spot called the Metro Diner. I like the vibe set up there with all the lights and the DJ booth, the food is also pretty good as well. The Georgia Aquarium is pretty cool and I always enjoyed going there as a kid. For other food options, I would love to go to the Battery, since they have plenty of options for food and desserts. Also while being at the Battery, I would take my friend to The Escape Game as well. I’m a huge nature person too, so I would take my friend to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Those are some cool places I would take my friend to.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my entire family who helped put me in positions to be recognized for my work. Especially, my older sister Kristain Montgomery who gifted me with the same camera I use today. I would also like to thank my film teachers in high school John Daniels and Kya Marrero, who mentored me and provided me with knowledge about the film industry and camera work. I would also like to thank my mentor, D’Angelo Amori for supporting me and providing me with other opportunities throughout my first year at the University of West Georgia. My success so far is largely due to the support of everyone in my corner, and I am very thankful for everyone who loves and cares for me.
