We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Correll and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Starting my photography business was a risk within itself. Even though I created a business plan and came up with ways that I could make money with photography, I spent a good a mount of money on a camera and lenses without knowing for sure if it would be profitable.
Naturally I am not a risk taker, but as a entrepreneur and I had to become more comfortable with taking risks. They come with the territory!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a portrait photographer, based put of Kennesaw, GA and owner of Tyler Symone Photography. I also do product photography for business owners as well. What sets me apart from others is that I aim to make my photoshoots fun! I love going to different locations, creating different scenarios (like picnics) and please bring your Bluetooth speaker to play your favorite music! I find that the more comfortable a client is, the more authentic the photos are! I love candid style shots and the best way to achieve that is by encouraging my clients to be themselves!
I still have a long way to go, but it took a lot of hard work to even get to where I am now. I had to learn a lot about myself, erase doubt and ultimately get out of my own way. I’m still learning every single day, but I’m really proud of how far I’ve come.
To anyone reading this, step out on faith and chase those dreams! Yes, you’re going to have to make some big decisions, you’ll have to put in a lot of work, but it will all be worth it in the end! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In order to build a successful photography business, one of the main things you need is a portfolio. Without it, it can be hard to book clients because they can’t see your work. When I first started my business, I didn’t have a lot people I could photograph so I used my family and friends as models until I could build up my clientele. Not only were the amazing models but they did everything they can to spread the word about my small business. I’m so thankful for the community and support system that surrounds me.
