Meet Tyleene Brown | Candle and Fragrance Connoisseur | Respiratory Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyleene Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyleene, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The biggest habit that I believe has been a pillar in my success is organization. I am a very matriculate person. I have to be able to visually see what has been completed and what needs to be completed to feel in control of everything I am responsible for. I have always had an agenda with a to-do list for everyday of the week and before the day is over, everything on that to-do list will be done. Another habit I feel has played a major role in my success is not taking no for an answer. I feel there are far too many opportunities in the world to accept no, or allow the word no to deter you from a goal. If 100 people tell you no keep trying …. there is someone out there who will say yes. Persistence and consistency are always key. Lastly the habit of is believing you are capable. Self-doubt will kill a dream every time. I make it a point to stand firm in who I am and what I am proficient in. Believe it or not, others can recognize how you view yourself and when it comes to business … if you don’t believe in yourself why should I?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art form consists of curating unique fragrances that are housed in beautiful hand selected vessels. These fragrances are meant to evoke specific and intentional feelings in those whom experience them. I own a wellness brand that specializes in Custom Scented Candles and Candle Making Experiences. I am also a Fragrance Artisan for L’Artisan Muse – Maison Chemin, an innovative wellness brand based out of Atlanta. This brand and it’s owner are actually what inspired me to pursue a creative career in fragrance, which is why working so closely with them means so much to me.
I am most proud of my personal and professional growth in this artistic realm. Just a year or so ago I was only housing ideas of what I wanted to do in my head, and now I have released my first line of luxury candles, began hosting my indelible candle making experiences, and am now a Master Artisan certified to curate bespoke fragrance blends for the home and body. I got to where I am professionally today by doing a-lot of inner work, which was incredibly difficult. I had to break a lot of bad habits, shift my mindset and perspective on certain things, and prioritize mental health and self care daily. The biggest lesson that I have learned along the way is every thing worth having takes time. It is easy to look at something that has been established for years and see that its all polished and perfect but forget to take into account that it didn’t always look that way.
What I want the world to know about me and my story is it took a lot of self-disciple, sacrifice, and hard work for me to be able to show up in the world the way I do today. Every bit of it was worth it. I also know that this is just the beginning and a lot more work is still needed, but I am capable and willing to continue to do the work because my supporters are watching and need me to show up as my best self in the spaces I hold for them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am all about delicious food and sensational drinks – some of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta are the Steak Market on Juniper St , Pricci in Buckhead, and Delbar in Inman Park. They each have very unique menus but the food is just *chefs kiss*.
Places we would visit would most definitely be a private bespoke blending with L’Artisan Muse. A trained fragrance artisan tours you through a collection of notes specific to your olfactory pallet and assists you in building a custom one of one fragrance that can be used for the body, home, or both. This experience is perfect for the bougie upper echelon girlies. We would also have to have a movie night at Startlight on Memorial. This place is just apart of my history. There is nothing like watching a movie in the back of a truck, snacks, and good vibes under a moonlit sky.
As far as night life goes we could probably find a different club for each day of the week but I have to say, Magic Monday’s are hands down my fave.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my sister, Kayla James. This woman is the epitome of a friend and kind spirit. Kayla is constantly showing empathy, compassion, and genuine support to everyone she encounters. Kayla has helped me develop my business in every aspect from PR, Marketing, Design, Facilitating Experiences, I mean literally anything I can think of she has helped me with. There were so many times were I doubted myself or felt like I was not capable to bring the ideas in my head to life, and each time she held me accountable and assured me that we were going to get it done, together. On the day of my very first Candle Making Experience, not only did she help me prepare the night before and setup the day of, she had a sign that was handmade for the business setup when I got to the venue. I already could not thank her enough for all her help and then she takes it a mile further. She is the friend that will always go above and beyond for those she loves and that is why she can have any and everything from me. I wouldn’t have made it through the relaunch of my brand without her and I am forever grateful for her.
