Meet Tyjia Sherman | Realtor I Investor I Educator I Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyjia Sherman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyjia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am no stranger when it comes to serving my community. As a former Educator I taught under-privileged children for years needless to say, I have always seen value in bridging the wealth and generational gap within the minority communities. Equipped with a servant leadership attitude and the encouragement from family and friends, I took steps to begin me real estate career. As a native of Georgia living outside of the Atlanta perimeter it became clear to me the housing market was shifting and the demand was greater than the supply. As a Realtor/Investor, this was the ideal opportunity for my company Eyedeal Realty to not only reinvest within my community but to actively prepare the way for others to create generational wealth.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As an entrepreneur, there were times that I struggled with the importance of choosing a niche. I began my journey thinking that selling real estate to everyone kept my options open. However, I learned a valuable lesson and realized to get to where I wanted to go, I was going to have to become a different person. In order to properly communicate my value, I had to develop an ideal position for myself which set me apart. I knew that just becoming a realtor wasn’t enough. I also couldn’t separate my mind from the need to serve my community. Selling houses was great but I desperately needed to become a niche player. In 2015, as an exclusive listing agent for a group of Investors, in the Metro Atlanta area doors began to open. I eventually started providing capital to fund flips for home remodeling and renovations. In 2019, the game completely changed for me when I decided to open my own real estate investment company Eyedeal Realty. There is nothing more satisfying than providing a solution for the housing supply and demand within the community. Eyedeal Realty is a lifestyle-oriented real estate team committed to going beyond normal standards as we service our community partners.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where do I begin! Bermuda Bar is a fun spot for drinks and live entertainment. Mics Karaoke is a great place for private fun and entertainment. I’d also recommend dinner at 9 Mile Station the rooftop view and ambiance are superb. If you love a good laugh the Atlanta Comedy Club is the best spot to hang out and catch the vibe.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Growing up as we call it, “back in the day” I never understood the sacrifice my grandmother who was raising me, and my three other siblings had to make just to give us a fighting chance at this game called life. Constantly giving gifts of time, talent, wisdom, and most of all love to help make life better for what would soon be her legacy. “Momma”. That’s what we called her because that’s who she was to us. Everything that she taught me came from the heart my leadership, resilience, tranquil presence and faith, I get it from my “Momma”. To her I owe thanks for the gift of support which helped me build a strong foundation. No matter how strong the foundation is we must know a house is not a home without the frame. It wasn’t until I began serving in my community church organization that I realized the true meaning of servant leadership. A true boss and philanthropist one I’ll always remember Wilma Poole took me up under her wings and began to teach me everything she knew and what she didn’t know (which wasn’t much) I had to learn as well. From running her own business, owning multiple real estate investment properties and investing in her community. I willingly participated in feeding the homeless within our community, teaching the youth at vacation bible school, assisting elderly with housing, structuring Christmas toy drives, donating clothing and furniture to those in need, and even delivering meals on wheels. Just to name a few. Needless to say, she definitely taught me how to hustle. As I reflect on the years spent serving with her, I give many thanks for her leadership. In remembrance and honor, I recognize and salute them both for their contribution in the birth of my success.
