We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyiesha TheHairnistaDiva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyiesha, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Not giving up on myself during the struggling and trying times. It’s so easy to keep going when everything is going in your favor, the real test of success is continuing to push yourself when things aren’t going your way at all. How bad do you really want this because everyday is not going to be easy!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m the owner of HairnistaDivas. I’m located in the historical West End of Atlanta going on now 3 years. I specialize in hair extensions, wigs, hair coloring and natural hair care. I believe what sets me apart from others is definitely my personality and my energy. I’m a natural born motivator, I love building up confidence. You’re definitely going to feel like a star when you leave out of my chair because I’m going to pump you up with good energy and slay your hair! How did I get to where I am today….staying true to myself and not allowing myself to get caught up in the lifestyles of social media. Self employment, owning your own business, being soley responsible for your own income is not easy especially in a city where your choice of employment is overly saturated. It’s so easy to get caught up with trying to keep up with the next person and that’s how you get lost. You have to stay focused and move as if you’re only competition is yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First stop is definitely down to the West End to sit in my chair for a HairnistaDiva Slay. There so many places here in Atlanta, Sunday we have to hit BQE for brunch and we’re swinging by the Bando on MLK for some banging crack wings!! You have to try them best wings in Atlanta I promise you!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely have to shoutout my hair mentor, best friend August Snow! He took me under his wing and teaches me everything I need to be one of Atlanta’s hottest hairstylist. When I felt discouraged, when I wanted to give up, he pushed me beyond my limit and 3 years later I’m holding my own in this hair game!!
