We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty O’Banner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ty, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is CONSISTENCY.

When it comes to posting consistently and posting quality content I ensured I stayed on top of it. I knew what it felt like to be consistent with sports and that feeling of winning.

However, when it came to business I struggled finding my lane. I found a mentor, @MarkTheBadGuy, who really helped me with the tools and strategies to create my brand from scratch.

I finally created Young Hustler Babe, a brand dedicated to highlighting black female creatives and providing them with resources to make money and start a business. I became attached to my brand before I even started to post, that’s how I knew I was getting things right this time.

I knew I finally found my lane in entrepreneurship. I knew I didn’t have a choice but to stay consistent, I have a younger brother and sister who are aspiring entrepreneurs as well.

If I constantly give up on myself, I am setting no example for them to stay consistent with their goals.

If I would’ve gave up I would have never got my first viral video getting over 1 million views on both TikTok & Instagram.

If I would’ve gave up I would have never got my first day getting over 1,000 followers.

If I would’ve gave up I would have never gained 30,000 followers in 30 days on Instagram.

Staying consistent is way more rewarding than giving up!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been in the military for 6 years. The Army has definitely helped shaped me into the person that I am today. From being able to be disciplined with whatever I do, knowing how to conduct myself in a professional manner, and overall not making excuses for anything.

I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. I have grown a lot within the organization and have been able to network with so many people that have opened up many opportunities for me.

I now work at a consulting firm as a Solutions Engineer Analyst, where I am able to further develop professionally and continue to use skills learned in my entrepreneur endeavors.

The journey has not always been easy, but has always been worth it. I’ve faced many obstacles, started many businesses that failed. I see failure as just another opportunity to learn and grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love visiting different lounges and food restaurants in the area. I will ensure my friends and I hit some of my favorite spots.

One of the first places on the list will be The Bando. They have some of the best wings in the area.

MattChews is also on the top of the list, my favorite meal is pineapple fried rice with sweet and spicy wings.

Tassili’s Raw Reality has the best wraps and salads. The punany wrap or salad is my favorite.

For night life for good food and good vibes Cru Lounge and Vision Restaurant and Lounge.

Finally I will take my friends to whatever festival, concert, or comedy show is going on that weekend. There is always some kind of event happening. Spur of the moment events are always a must and bring the best memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to my parents Mishonn & Tyrone O’Banner. They are always so supportive with everything that I do.

My grandmother, Gloria O’Banner, and a host of family members that have been supportive of everything that I do.

My close friends from Hampton County, lines sisters, and entrepreneur friends I’ve met along the way.

My mentor Mark Swist for always pouring his knowledge into me and teaching me the necessary skills to set my brand up for success.
