We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty Abernathy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ty, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because it’s what speaks to my soul. Being creative allows me to showcase my craft, my talent by creating content/items for people to enjoy. I’m at peace with myself when I’m in my free space.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always loved creating. From jewelry to painting, you name it. The arts allow me to actually be free in my creativity but it definitely takes up a lot of time. You have so many thoughts/ideas coming at you at once. Balancing a creative career, a professional career, and a personal life keeps me extremely busy. However, I’m proud of the process. The road hasn’t been easy finding my balance of what I can bring to the world. I took my time trying to combine free thinking concepts intertwined with structural issues surrounding youth. I want the world to know that Chasing Destinee Creations is determined to build a safe, constructive setting for children to learn crafting and participate in mentorship counseling.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a pizza lover. So, I would first take them to Slim & Husky’s Beeria on Howell Mill Rd. The decor is great and the food is even better. Next, I would said Piedmont Park for the scenery. There’s always some sort of activity going on there. For a good happy hour or even Sunday brunch, I would suggest Atlantis Restaurant & Lounge. The food is good, hookahs and board games are available for your group to enjoy.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
