We had the good fortune of connecting with Turkessa Lucas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Turkessa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business because when. I moved to Marietta I had surgery in 2017 and it was so hard for me to find post op care so I started researching classes and qualifications to be able to provide these services because I would have to travel so far to get care, so I was I’m going to get the training and open up my own massage spa which I did in 2020
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe that what sets me apart from others is that I really get involved in my clients journey because surgery is a serious process and a long one and I try to encourage them not to get frustrated when they experience certain issues during their process like the swelling the pain, the not being able to sit for weeks. I feel like I have gotten where I am today because of my dedication to my clients I’m not in it just for money I really want my clients to be happy about their results and their surgery journey. I can honestly say the lessons I’ve learned is that this business industry is not easy you have to put your work out there because there is a lot of competition but don’t give up.I want the world to know that Royal Changes Beauty Bar is not just a spa it’s a safe place where my dolls and future dolls can feel at home and know that I’m going to be with them from start to finish and that if anyone is thinking about starting a business you will hit rough spots but don’t give up if it’s God’s plan it will happen but you have to put the work in.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To start we would go down to Ponce City Market because there a lot of different restaurants and drink places i really have a good time there and on Saturday we would go to Pappadeaux Seafood because they have the best seafood to me and later that night we would go to Monticello’s there is always a good time there..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I can honestly say my son is my biggest supporter because he encouraged me to keep going even when I was like business is slow I have no clients I’m ready to give up, he pushed me not to. Not that I couldn’t have used a mentor but I really didn’t know where to look to find one or if they were really going to help me because everybody don’t want you to succeed.
