We had the good fortune of connecting with Tuesday Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tuesday, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The beautiful thing about Waist Me Knot is that it was very much like an unplanned pregnancy, lol.
Where many people are looking to “birth” a new business, I was very much a mother of multiples already (business that it, follow me people) and couldn’t fathom beginning another with just a “hint” from spirit,
But I did. After receiving a reading and being told that waistbeads would be a tremendous help to me during my spiritual journey, I took off to find someone both qualified and of quality that could create what was needed. I could have purchased any designs that I came across online, but not one was of that quality that called me.
So I made my own. And the first few I created were basic and had no style. I never faltered. I had an amazing support system in my tribe who relentlessly kept my business afloat and my products active by sticking with me as I learned and grew.
Many times I thought I was bat shit crazy for encapsulating all my time into sitting on a mat and finessing beads on a string in the name of healing women of their toxins and womb trauma. The respect that I have for the Yoruba community and the tradition of Ifa has lead me to now being an initiated priested of the tradition, further activation my abilities to heal, liberate, release generations of children from trauma and oppression.
I will continue to expand and enlarge my territory (I keep that Prayer of Jabez in rotation) with a clear intent to heal, express and restore women to their divine birthright through waistbeads and womb revitalization.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Waist Me Knot apart from any other waistbead company is that our designs are 100% spirit-derived.
The designs, the numbers, the charms and the colors are all messages, energies or implements that derive from a connection received from spirit.
This is not something that we brag about per say, because sometimes the connection may not always be available to create, which makes production difficult. When your business relies solely on your energy, you have to be creative and conscious of your energy, emotions, moods and the things we do that shift that. We’ve learned to be more protective of my space and how we lend my energy to clients.
With this, we’ve learned to be more expressive and firm with boundaries, how to shift and ground energy and most importantly, how to get maximum production from minimum energy.
We desire to shift the narrative of healing from survival to thriving within women in the diaspora. We wish to waist no time waist-ing the women of the world to see their highest and truest glory unfurl.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am currently living in the place where most people vacation, so paradise is all around! A Saturday here would look like:
1: Start the day with a fresh cup of tea from the Spirit Be Knowin’ botanica in Belmont-Devillers.
2: Breakfast downtown at Ruby Slipper – I recommend the French Toast and a Strawberry Margarita.
3. BEACH – Pensacola has the whitest beaches in Florida. It would be a shame to not visit.
4. Sound healing session with Mvtha Cvla (www.MvthaCvla.com).
5. Lunch at The Busy Bee Merchantile Store – try the vegan soul food plate and hibiscus lemonade.
6. Waistbead with WaistmeKnot.com – you have to experience it to know…its a VIBE!
7. Incense and Oil Shopping with African Expressions at the indoor flea market.
8. Dinner at Georges Bistro.
9. Hookah & Hang at ASH Cigar Bar & Hookah Lounge
10. Home to watch the moon.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would be ABSOLUTELY NOTHING without the support of my spirit-made tribe and personal super hero collective that is “When Queens Link Up”.
When Queens Link Up is a quarterly social gathering and safe space for quality women-focused businesses to network, learn, create vibes, and connect with their new and returning consumers.
What started out as 9 small businesses looking to introduce our city to our talents and products has now grown into an event that boasts over 30 vendors each event and is GROWING. But what has grown more than our brands is our bonds. These women have single-handedly shown support, guidance, a shoulder and compassion with me during the building and transitions of this collective.
Many of these women are mothers. They work full-time jobs and run their businesses full-time and still find time to pour into others, including themselves, amongst and surrounding our tribe. For every single business, participant, speaker, performer and venue that has housed and hosted When Queens Link Up, you’re loyalty and support is indescribable. My gratitude and thanks is immeasurable.
