We had the good fortune of connecting with Trevor King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trevor, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The amount of time it takes to choose through and edit photos. As photographers we want to make sure every client gets the best work we can give. Sometimes that takes time choosing through photos, especially with wedding photography being our main sessions. We take up to 5,000 photos a wedding, sometimes more. The goal is to output the best work possible and sometimes that takes a little time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Photography has been a art that I have loved for a long time. I look at everything in pictures. From the moment I was up until I fall asleep I am thinking about how many things in my day could be the next amazing image I can edit and share to the world. I have always had a eye for it but I lacked being personal with clients. Having to overcome putting myself out there for the public to see my work and want to work with me was not easy. I was nervous about people not appreciating how I viewed photography. I have learned that its not always about what everyone else sees, its about how much you put into your work and being happy about the outcome. Now when shooting with seniors, couples, events, or weddings I am more confident and always ready to show my clients my eye.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I want to get some good food and want my friends to be good and full after then I am taking them to Big Head Burger! I would also take them to my Kitchen because I can throw down. We would go visit my home church Hope City Church ia. If its during sports season then we would go to a UNI or University of Iowa game. We would make a stop at a Café called Cup or Joe. Do some fishing at Greenbelt Lake.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout my wife, Ebony King! She is my biggest inspiration and my business partner! She also owns her own small business called “Formed Clay designs by E. King”. She has taught me more about being a owner and how to go after what I want in life.
