We had the good fortune of connecting with Trevor And Tashia Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trevor and Tashia, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It started during Covid when Trevor was able to work from home, and would come to visit Tashia at her home in Georgia, as he was living in North Carolina at the time. Tashia didn’t have a traditional office, but a plant room, with nothing but plants, we even had to buy him a desk!
At first Trevor complained that he hated the room, all sunny, and warm- but after a month or so, he pulled me into the room to show me all the new growth of NOW some of his favorite plants, and thus a plant lover was born!
When we started traveling around the US, everwhere we went, we had to go to a plant shop, even on our honeymoon in Hawaii!
But we noticed a lack of plant stores in the Gwinnett area, and it occured to us, that WE needed to be that cool funky plant shop that people seek out like we had- and now have T&T Plants and Things.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the biggest things about the shop that we love to brag on is the fact that we mark each plant with a green, yellow, or red paw sticker based on if it is pet friendly, and the affects that it may have if eaten by your pet. We are dog parents to 3 babies, 2 wiener dogs and a mastiff, and one thing we would constantly look up is if it was safe if one of them got into the plants. It is now our cornerstone, and one of the many things that helps us stand out in the crowd.

As a husband and wife team, we have to balanced our work and home life which can be tough. Sometime sitting over dinner, all we talk about is plants and realized that there is more than the shop. We strive hard to ensure that we keep open, honest communication when it comes to work and home- and sprinkle that will at least 1 date night a week.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Gwinnett Co and especially Lawrenceville have so much to do! Make sure you when you are in Lawrenceville you take in a show at the Aurora Theater, and after have drinks at one of our favorite wine spots, Vintages Wine Bar. Be sure to walk around Lawrenceville as well, as we have a few historical sites, including our historical courthouse, which is available during the week for free to tour!
Lastly, end your evening at one of the many restaurants downtown- we literally call it “Around the World” eating, because you can try from so many different places, different countries, and they are all delicious.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to thank our parents, friends, and family for supporting this dream- and helping with ideas, labor, and so much love, because without their support, we couldn’t be as successful as we are.
