Meet Tré Mundy | Clothing brand owner/ content creator/innovator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tré Mundy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tré, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Note to self; Nobody is built like you, you designed yourself” – Jay-Z
This quote always stuck with me as my daily words of affirmation reminding me nobody is me, I am unique, and I am cut from cloth you can’t buy. With my creative ability I bring things to the table no one else can. I consider myself a “Culture Radical.’’ I am somebody who goes against the norms of the culture. Now that we’re in the era of social media I have an impact on society. Influential people set a tone of more followers, they make you feel like I need to wear their outfit and want their lifestyle. I found myself with the urge of getting caught up in some trends and fads. Eventually, I realized everything isn’t meant for everyone; you have to create your own fad or trend.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m really just a jack of all trades when it comes to art, I’m always eager to create something with any materials. But my main focus is clothing. Art is a self expression on how you view reality. When it comes to clothing I fell like I’m helping others create a persecution of their own reality. I love that fact I can make someone feel confident about themselves by wearing the clothes I created. My most proudest moment so far was seeing my brand in stock in an actual store front.
What sets my clothing brand Haute École (Ōt e Kôl) Established 1996 apart from other brands is that my brand is a Premium casual wear brand, which means the clothing I create is very versatile you can wear it in any setting or occasion. I think my brands uniqueness lies in the meaning behind it, it was inspired by the likeness of my grandfather Bingo Mundy who was a singer in the Doo-wop group The Marcels. I always loved how my granddad carried himself in classy manner and how he could make some of the most the most boldest patterns look elegant. He always reminded me of Craig Sager.

To answer the other part, I got this far by just trail and error. “Easier said than done”, not only has it strained me a lot financially, it might make you second guess you’re self but then you have to trust yourself. I also been learning a lot about advertising with Facebook and Instagram ads to get traffic to my website. I have wonderful team behind too who see my vision.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well of the best this I would suggest is some sort of nature walk because we have one best outdoors wildlife scenery especially during the fall when leaves are changing. I for sure would suggest a trip to Happy Days Dessert Factory because they have wide variety of desert from ice cream sundaes, to Italian ice, to funnel cake and more plus it’s Black owned so that’s a double bonus. I would suggest somewhere like Savoy if they’d like Togo somewhere upscale for some good food and drinks. There is a lot hidden gems around the city of Pittsburgh that I haven’t even been to yet so I wouldn’t mind shearing the experience with them,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s a few people that deserve praise for my progress from my parents for always being my biggest fans in anything I did from sports to a spitball fight, they always made sure I had whatever I needed to succeed.. And my team, just for just staying down through everything I been through pushing me to be great.
