We had the good fortune of connecting with Travesia Agee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travesia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is God. There absolutely would be no success without Big G lol. God has had his hand in my business from day one. When the opportunity to create my business was presented, I went to God first. I prayed over the folder with all the paperwork in it that I needed to submit, for 2 weeks. I could not afford to make the wrong decision just because it felt like the right thing to do. I needed God to tell me if this was what I was supposed to do. I waited until it was clear and then I moved forward

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Born in Mobile, AL but raised in Tampa, FL, food has always been a way for my family to get together and love on each other. My love for the kitchen started at a young age and eventually in adulthood became my place of peace. Let Them Eat Cake, LLC is a home based baked goods business that specializes in southern table desserts. We offer southern staples that remind you of Sunday dinner at Grandma’s house. What sets me apart from others is my love for baking and my ability to not conform to trends. My lane is just that and I am staying in it. Baking everything is just not for me so I stick to what makes my heart smile and my clients happy. I am most proud of continuing my business amid covid and having days where no orders come in but I keep going. Let Them Eat Cake has become what it has because of our customers. Our customers have literally taken us from zero to the masses. In particular, I have one couple that literally buys cheesecake slices and gives them away at the softball field on game days. They not only support by making purchases but they believe in my brand so strongly that they are making purchases and giving them away so other people can experience what they have. Talk about God sent. This journey has not been easy by far. Having to revamp the way I handled business because of covid was a battle but it was worth it. It forced me to come up with different strategies. During covid, we implemented our website, letthemeatcakemobile.com, in order to make it easier for customers to place orders and for us to be able to keep up with inventory. During this time we also played around with shipping to see what items would work and what would not. I have learned many lessons while building LTEC, the most important has been to pray over my business and to pray throughout the entire process no matter what that process may be. I want the world to know that Let Them Eat Cake, LLC will always offer Love In Every Bite.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best time to visit Mobile, AL is during Mardi Gras. If unfamiliar with Mardi Gras, the Mardi Gras Museum is a place to visit so that you get the history and the complete understanding that Mobile, Al is the birthplace of Mardi Gras. No we are not going to argue with New Orleans about history lol. When visiting Mobile, Hart’s Fried Chicken is a must have. There is nothing like a 2 piece spicy with tots, a roll, and a strawberry drank lol. You will not get any fresher seafood than right here so you have to try Mudbugs or K&D. You would have to go to Kanary Bar, Kazoola, and Box Owt to grab a good drink and listen to good music and enjoy great vibes. If the weather is right, a quick trip Gulf Shores or Orange Beach would be perfect to lay out in the sun or to take a dip in the ocean.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends but especially, my mama. My mama is the literal backbone of my business. When I can’t, she can. When I am tired, she’s energetic. When I am frustrated, she’s level headed. When I lack faith, she is faith FULL!! My core circle has held me down!! When I couldn’t see my way through they did. They have all supported my vision, wiped tears, listened to me fuss, and prayed for me when I couldn’t pray for myself. They have all shaped me in ways that they will never understand. To my family and my friends Thank You!!
