We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracey meyers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracey, how has your background shaped the person you are today?

I feel incredibly grateful to have had such a rich and diverse upbringing. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, in the 70s, with both of my loving parents gave me an unbreakable sense of confidence, street smarts, and savvy that I still carry with me today. And spending my summers down south with my grandparents and cousins was an absolute dream. I was able to experience the best of both worlds and learn so much about different cultures and backgrounds.

Visiting the South was such a transformative experience for me. I could slow down, let my guard down, and truly appreciate the beauty of Southern hospitality, fresh air, and down-home cooking. It taught me the value of life and family and how important it is to surround yourself with diverse people while staying true to yourself.

I feel so lucky to have had such a thoughtful and exciting upbringing, and I’m excited to continue exploring the world and its beautiful cultures and experiences.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

As the President of the Beauty for Ashes (BFA) women’s ministry at my church and a certified Christian counselor, I am thrilled to share my story of hope and healing with young and older women. Through my personal experiences with colorism, single motherhood, relationship struggles, and loss, I have learned that transparency leads to healing and recovery, and I am passionate about sharing this message with others.

My ability to connect with people on a deep and meaningful level sets me apart from others. I am a talented and creative master administrator, always on the cutting edge of fashion, and able to speak to the heart of any matter with compassion and thought-provoking insights.

Although the journey to becoming a certified Christian counselor was not easy, I persevered, attending virtual classes and balancing my work and personal life with the help of my loving husband. Through it all, I have learned to extend grace to myself and others, recognizing that we are all human beings and that mistakes can be powerful catalysts for growth and change.

I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in religious studies and writing a Christian journal set to release in the summer. I am committed to reminding others that it is okay to make mistakes and that these mistakes can lead them closer to Christ.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

If my best friend were to visit me from out of town, I would be excited to show them around my favorite local spots in Atlanta. One of my must-visit destinations would be Ponce City Market, which offers a wide range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

During our week together, I would plan various activities designed to help us bond, relax, and indulge in delicious food. We would start our trip with a glamping adventure at Glamp Blue Ridge, followed by a home tour and a cozy pajama night in.

The next day, we would pamper ourselves with a spa day at Platinum Beauty Bar and Spa, followed by dinner at Restaurant Apt 4B. We would then enjoy a scenic train ride on the Blue Ridge Train to McCaysville/Copperhill and explore local shops and eateries.

Our Atlanta day would include brunch at Toast on Lenox, a visit to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and a movie and dinner at IPIC Atlanta. We would end our week with brunch at South City Kitchen in Alpharetta.

Throughout our trip, I would be enthusiastic, friendly, and positive, sharing my love of Atlanta and my passion for helping others connect with their faith and find healing and hope in their lives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude as I take a moment to express my appreciation to my wonderful husband, Dwayne Myers. Your unwavering support has been a cornerstone in my life, and I am deeply grateful for all you do. Your constant belief in me has been a driving force behind my success, and I cannot thank you enough for everything.

I also want to give a special shoutout to my amazing mother, whose encouragement and support have been invaluable. Your unwavering belief in my abilities has been a constant source of inspiration for me, and I am so grateful to have you in my life. Thank you, Mom, for always being my biggest cheerleader.

To my incredible children, Danaye, DJ, Dohnte, and Drew, being your mother is my greatest joy and accomplishment. Your love and support mean everything to me, and I am so proud of the amazing people you are becoming. Thank you for motivating and uplifting me daily; you are my life’s light!
