We had the good fortune of connecting with Torrie White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Torrie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
In April of 2020, I gave birth to my son. My husband worked miles away and I knew I’d be staying home full time. I wanted to work and I wanted to do something that I enjoyed doing every single day. I invested in training courses and product. I took every penny that I had and put it into White House Artistry. I never questioned it. Never! The risk that I took, has definitely been worth the gain. I have gained so much; so many clients, success, knowledge and I would risk it all over and over again!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I went to school on a Theatre Scholarship at Jacksonville State University. I started this journey in 2008. I enjoyed theatre so much. However, theatre required more than acting and being front and center. My instructor removed me from the scene and introduced me to set design, costume design, and stage makeup. I always liked makeup, but this experience sealed the deal and I grew to love makeup even more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would probably never make it out because I’d have her at White House Artistry begging her to be a face model. Lol.

If I have to do anything outside of makeup, it would definitely be going to grab some good food. I love to eat. My husband recently took me on a date to Gallen Garden on the Southside of Birmingham. I loved it. One of my favorite soul food places is Ruth’s and their oxtails are soooooo bomb! One of my close friends, Kalye, is a seafood guru… we may stop at her place too.
We are definitely eating, if nothing else.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so thankful for my friends and family for their belief in me. My husband has to be my number one fan! He does not allow me to stop no matter how discouraging things can get. My uncle, Ken, is always one phone call away. He is always there, making sure that I am conducting business in a professional manner and as he says, the right way!
And lastly, my accountability partner, Mercedes Sykes. We are always pushing and encouraging one another. If I need something done, she gets it done and not to mention, I use a lot of products from her cosmetic line.
I love this unit.
