We had the good fortune of connecting with Tori Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tori, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I initially started my training company out of anger. I had a number of poor customer service experiences that costed me a couple grand. I knew I could help prevent others from having a similar experience if I created a plan/ a solution to support business owners and train them to provide better customer service while providing tools to enhance the quality of their employees. I also wanted a for-profit company that had a heart of service for the community and offered assistance to misrepresented populations, minority business, and women-owned businesses.
What should our readers know about your business?
THEOO, LLC provides training solutions, business development, business management, program management, and succession planning services to businesses and entrepreneurs. We train in person and virtually. and we’ve been in business since 2017. What sets us apart is we do very little if any social media marketing. (I know right, in this day and age). All of our clients come from relationship building, networking, and word of mouth. Although I am the CEO, I double as “The Connector” and I host events, build wealth from networking and leveraging my social capital. We have been extremely successful with offering real life training concepts that are implementable, believable, and easy for employees to understand and managers to measure. We do not train from “buzz words” or trends. Instead, we train from proven industry driven data and from real life experiences.
This journey has been exciting and challenging, but it is my passion and the passion of those who train in our name. We provide consultative services to an array of clients, and we know it’s our unwavering consistency that allows us to remain booked and busy.
Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are:
1. Do not do business until you are committed to doing GOOD business.
2. Do not cheat yourself by lowering your prices, there is a market and client for you. In the right market clients will pay without questioning costs or asking for discounts.
3. Do not conform. If you have mission and vision for your business stick to that, there is room for you in the marketplace!
4. Set realistic goals and be ok with not taking on new ventures when you do not have the capacity or bandwidth.
5. Diversify your clientele!
What I want the world to know about me and/or my brand– It’s not enough to be motivated. Motivation fades in times of trials and challenges. I did not start winning until I learned to be activated. Learn what activates you and lean into that. You will Win every time!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of the places we would eat- Noir, Papi’s Cuisine, Capitol lounge, Judys Island Grill, and Terra Cafe. Some of the places we would dance- The Windsor Inn, The Garage, and Sugar Rays (For dancing and brunch)
Places we would take dope pics- The Baltimore Museum of art, graffiti alley, and the selfie museum on Franklin Street.
Rooftop drinks and dessert – 16 on the Park or at my Gym (it’s downtown by the water)
Places I love to visit by the water: Canton – I also have a friend with a boat.. let’s sip and sail.
Need our hair done? Let’s hit the Kia Experience
Need a hair Cut- Of course I am calling Sundiata Osagie
Want to meet like-minded individuals and hear some Jazz?? I am going to the Eubie Blake Center because it’s always a great time and a cultural experience.
And before the week is up, we must go to the IVY Hotel for a relaxing Spa Day!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to Shoutout God first and foremost. He has been an awesome and faithful father and friend when I needed love, support, and help the most. I was homeless for a few years of my life and God kept me safe, he never left me, and he has allowed me to have an amazing comeback testimony!!
I also want to shout out some of the most amazing women- these women have been mentors, friends, surrogate mothers, sisters, and accountability partners to me along my journey: Ms. Nicole Baker- Bowie State University, Mrs. Linda Brown (adopted me in when I was homeless), Ms. Tracy Morton (always challenged me to remember my worth and level up), Ms. Robyn Bolling (has always reminded me that kindness is free), My cousin and business partner, Ms. Kiana B. Jones, My logical lights, Mrs. Rene Parker and Ms. Elana Bouldin, my Sister from another Mister, Mrs. Marquita Wilson, My “Life is always a party that you don’t want to be late to” friend, Ms. LaKeebra “DJKEEBEEPOOH”, my Godsent, God Mom Ret Senator Barbara A. Robinson and her daughter Jericka, My Mom, Pammy, who has shown me the value of forgiveness and unconditional love, and these two angels — My Niece Ryan and My Daughter Ali, who I know are watching everything thing I do and because of that I cannot Fail!! Yes, there are men that have helped along the way, but the two I want to give the BIGGEST Shout out to are my BIG little cousin, DJ DUKE (Live), and My son, Josh– The Prince.. Where would I be without you two?? Lost.. that’s the answer!
