Meet Toré Kelley | Nurse, Business Owner, Community Activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Toré Kelley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Toré, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want to leave this world with the stamp of I made a difference. I want people to say, that I gave all of myself to the work of making a change. Using my own personal experiences and trials; I work to let others know there is definitely a light at the end, it’s called going through it for a reason. You have to go through it and you will get through it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
From early on, working with Top Teens of America, I learned the gift of giving back. When I chose the profession of nursing, I knew I would have to give more of myself to those around me and that was really the mission. I was given the opportunity to show exactly what giving back means. Working with Girls Of Grace, allows me to give to the younger generation of young girls a chance to see there’s more to life than what they may see. After being diagnosed with stage four Cervical Cancer in 2021, I made it my decision to always give back and to pour my all into everything I do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well lucky for me, I live in Miami so the list is long. From the mom and pops like Theos Seafood or MLK to the hidden gems like We Shuckin’ , Smith & Webster. Then the vibes at Victory or Da Cave or Doucé. Good vibes, multicultural food and reasonable prices.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my team. My momma, my bestfriend, Ms Loretta Henderson and her sisters Mrs Teresa Hicks, Katrina Jenkins-Page and Shawntrilla Manuel. They were the standard of what a sister circle is, the amount of love and wisdom; unmatched. My security guards, Anthony Gray II, Tyrese Cummings and Abre Smith; God did his big one when he gave me these three as brothers. Then there’s these women stand with me through every storm, sunny day and anything in between. The ladies of Girls Of Grace, Inc, Madam President, Shirl Hudson, Charese Pierre, Richelle Barbary and Shapel Robinson. I also, I have to acknowledge those friends that pray with and for me. Those friends that I can call whenever and they’ll tell me what I need to hear not what I want to hear. Mrs Natalie Johnson-Bazile and Antoinette Ferguson. Lastly, my sisters. My sisters hold a space in life that if my hello is weird they will pull up on me; shout out to Ta’Kora Leatherwood and Sandra Stephens.
