We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonya Partlow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tonya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Deciding to start my own business was a life changing decision. However, as an owner, I can work in a field that I am passionate about. I’m able to build something that may become part of my families ongoing legacy. Moreover, it allows me to convert my knowledge, skills, interests, and passion into income. I also enjoy the flexibility I have in making my own schedule and work environment.

Regardless of the high financial risk, running my own business gives me an opportunity to potentially make more money than if I was employed by someone else. I benefit from my own hard work. In addition, as a business owner, I am involved in all aspects of my business instead of just a single task or obligation.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am one of those individuals you might call a serial entrepreneur. I have several small businesses and professional licenses. I am not afraid to start/stop a business. I have been presented with several opportuites to venture into different businesses. Some I have enjoyed and continued while others, I have started and stopped. Presently, I am a full time Realtor. I have been in Real Estate for 20 years now. I started my real estate journey in 2002 in The Atlanta area but now I am in the Augusta GA and South Carolina market. Real Estate has changed over the years but it’s something that I have always had an interest in and will continue to do. Along side of my real estate career, I have owned a Trucking Company where I had my own authority and my trucks ran up and down the east coast. By far, I would say that trucking was definitely the most challenging. It was not a very female friendly business in my opinion. I also have an entertainment management company as well as a social media promotions company. I have been in the Entertainment business for almost 2 years, managing artist, managing my sisters podcast and now social media promotions. The entertainment business by far has been the most exciting line of business. I have learned a lot and meet a lot of great people in the entertainment and music industry. I also want my children to be entrepreneurs and have several streams of income, therefore;  I started my 13 year old a business almost 2 years ago. He has a clothing brand call Bussin Unlimited Ltd. Co. I am teaching him how to be financially responsible and the importance of Entrepreneurship at an early age. Lastly, I have a new venture coming up where I will be hosting a music video show on TV in Augusta Georgia.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout all of the new found friends and supporters that I have met along my journey. I have learned that some of our biggest supporters are not always family and friends. So again, I give a shout out to my new supporters and future supporters.
