We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonya L. Cornelius and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tonya L., is there something you believe many others might not?
Attending school and obtaining a good education often leads to securing a good job upon graduation.

While I am not opposed to higher education, I do question the practice of accumulating student loan debt for a degree that may not lead to employment in one’s chosen field.

It is concerning when individuals invest years into their education only to find themselves unable to secure work in their desired profession due to factors such as limited opportunities or layoffs.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of being licensed in the Financial Services Industry, which has enabled me to contribute to poverty eradication and help families create Generational Wealth through Economic Empowerment and Financial Literacy. I am certified and licensed in insurance, retirement, and investing for personal and business needs.

As a Financial Literacy Coach, I prioritize helping people over selling them unnecessary products and services. Being in a people-focused business can be challenging but is ultimately rewarding because it allows me to do what’s right by others.

The journey in this industry hasn’t been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding because of the positive change I get to see in people’s lives. By continually pushing myself out of my comfort zone and embracing self-development and mentorship opportunities, I have learned valuable lessons about perseverance and staying true to my vision despite obstacles.

Authenticity, honesty, and integrity are core values in my business. As I grow across the US, my goal is to help more individuals get licensed in Financial Services, ultimately combating poverty!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a foodie and not really a club girl like that. So we definitely will be on the Atl food scene and stop by Slutty Vegan, Blaze Steak & Seafood, and try some new spots. We would have to most definitely go by and visit the trap museum & visit the TylerPerry studios. Get some walking & taking in the scenery in. the city

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The love, support, and encouragement I get from my King/ life partner Brandon to stay positive, keep pushing forward and everyday is another day to be great!

I am incredibly fortunate to have access to top-notch coaching and mentorship within my financial services business. Their expert guidance is truly invaluable, and I eagerly anticipate the continued growth and success that lies ahead!
