We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create something of my own and to have something that the success, direction and fate of, was in my hands and not another individuals. It was a desire to create my own path and something I bring my kids into and create some generational wealth and jobs for others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a designer by trade. I have made my career as a Graphic designer, Web designer, UI/UX Designer and Creative Director. That is what I studied in college and taught in higher education as a college professor. I worked in the creative field my entire career creating a lane for myself and others. I got where I am today professionally by continuing to learn and staying aggressive. I continued to pay attention to what was happening in my field and if I didn’t know how to do something, or the latest software, I would teach myself or complete the tutorials available to make myself an asset to any company out there and to remain marketable. Many things seem hard or impossible until you complete it. And my outlook was if I fall short somewhere, it won’t be from lack of trying or effort. It’s all on me. I’ll own the credit and I’ll own the fault. Either way, it’s on me. What I learned along the way is, I dictate how I’ll be seen, how I’lll be treated and what I’ll accept.

What I want the world to know that Vibe Black Vodka is a result of going for it and ignoring the “what-ifs”. I am proud to say that it is the one and only, Minority Owned, Veteran Owned and operated, Hand Crafted, American Made, Non-Flavored, Black Color Vodka on the Planet.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to each side of the city. Every side has its own personality. I would want them to see the various places and people and come to their own conclusion. This way, what they encounter and enjoy happens organically and is genuine. I am merely the guide. The most fun things just happen and people are just that, no more, no less. Go places that are outside of your norm as often as you go to places that are. Go in with no expectations and the fun is watching things unfold.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Love Lyons deserves more than a little credit. She encouraged me to try again where I had once given up. She did the research for me and got me pointed in the right direction to get me off and running. I am forever grateful for her love and support.
