We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Johnson Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
Leaving Virginia was the hardest and the most difficult thing I ever had to do. It was like breaking up with someone you loved your whole life, and VA (Virginia) was basically my whole life. From 1990 to 2015 VA was my love and like any relationship it has good times and for sure has its bad times from living. The rough times was in my late teens into my early 20s living place to place to living out of a car sneaking into the mall men’s bathroom to sleep somewhere warm after it was closed all while trying to make a vision into reality whatever that was ha ha… VA brought good times and many people more like great blessings that I am glad to call my friends and I can never forget to mention my sister Nina. They say VA is for lovers well that saying is somewhat quite true because in late May 2009 about a month after my Grandmother passed I started my once vision and made it into a great reality that was my now podcast The Tony Johnson Show for 10 years my show had gained a lot of attention and brought in a great audience. It taught me and made a good me into a better me. Like many times in relationships you tend to grow apart in my case I was growing really fast in a small town and needed to make strides to start my new life. Thats when my best friend my now wife Stephanie came into my life and made me realize it was time to break up with VA. That meant saying not good bye to VA but saying see you later. It was the most difficult decision because I was scared. I was so certain I would fail the minute I left VA. Guess what it was the greatest difficult decision I ever taken. I moved to Georgia with $92.63 to my name and made a difficult decision into the best decision . A decision is only difficult if you never take it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well LOL For one LOL I am a health and safety coordinator by day and a podcast hosts on the weekends. What Makes my show different from the others is that it gives a platform from an ordinary person to a trendsetter, noise maker, a superstar, hopefully one day a legend. My show is nothing more than a platform for those who start from small and no big. Give an opportunity for the world to get to know who they are and what they do and how they want to make the world better by solving some of the smallest problem to some of the biggest problems.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well lets see in my time being here I would say the first place you want to go to is the Vortex probably by the greatest burger joint in the world. Then I would take a tour and hit up coca-cola world. I know its not much lol because I honestly don’t get out much lol. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like take this time to recognize first and for most God for without him…. I am not me lol. I would like thank my boys Troy Bonner Jr. Vaughan Crest, Jeff Marca. These guys gave been nothing but good to me even when I didn’t deserve it. Those are guys that when times were at its worst they did everything in their power to make my dark days seem brighter. To my good friend and family Kendra Wilson who gave me a place to live when I literally lost everything. To my other good friend Dariona who put money in my pocket while she fought for our country over seas in Afghanistan. To all my other friends from my past and present who made me who I am. To my beautiful and wonder little sister Nina whose light shines so bright in my heart who continues to make me proud day after day. To my brother in law who I am so happy for and also proud of the bond we have made at this point in our lives. I would like to also credit my Mother and Father for teaching me so many lessons in life. To the Queen of Johnson’s my Grandmother who never once stopped being a shining example of how a strong a black woman should be. In closing lol there is to many to people to thank and if I didn’t mention you please please don’t be offended. One last thank you I owe is to my wife (China) Stephaine Johnson and our beautiful son Liam Johnson. Babe I cannot begin to thank you so much for coming into my life when you did. I didn’t know I was loved until I met you. You came into my world and made the greatest impact you are my greatest reward , my greatest journey, and through all that you gave me my greatest gift our wonderful son. I love you so much more then you will ever know. Thank you for all of me my good and my bad. I love you always and forever waiting for your kiss beneath the moon.
