We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Bandz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is tricky, I grew up with parents who were strict and they lived with certain principles. They believed that you have to go to school and get a degree in order to succeed in life and that was the only way. I was always rebellious, not saying I was a bad child but I questioned everything. It came to a point in time where I started asking questions that my parents didn’t have the answer to. It made me want to go out there and get the answer for myself. I realized that this world is filled with endless opportunities, yet there was risks associated with them. There were certain things I had to do without consulting with my parents just for the simple fact they would sway me in the other direction because THEY were scared of the risks associated. They would project there fears on me and it would discourage me from doing a lot of things I wanted to do in life. Moral of the story is if there is no risks being taken there is no reward given.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I personally have been a Musical Artist for over 5 years, professionally for 3 and It has its ups and downs. I have been down for a very long time and the way I got out of the situation I was in is by taking risks. I bet on myself I made sure I got the knowledge I needed to succeed. It wasint easy at all and it takes time. Mostly everything I have done takes a lot of time. If you work a 9-5 that is time you could be working for yourself. Quitting your job to focus on what you want to do is considered a risk and many people are willing to take that risk. Throughout the process I’ve learned alot about the industry’s I’m in as well as the mistakes I made. All these experiences I have good or bad is knowledge to me. Now I am making different moves such as opening up my own label as well as still gaining the knowledge I need in order to succeed. Knowledge is key and if you don’t have that, let’s just say it can be a very long ride to the top. I’m in the process of opening up my clothing merchandise store as well as my own online electronics store. This brand is intended to be for the outcasts living amongst our community. People in this world are not accepted for who they truly are. People look at these social media influencers and wish they were in there shoes for the lavish lifestyle they portray. I think that is tearing the world apart. With that being said this brand is intended for people to be themselves. Express your true nature, life is too short for you to be mad or upset because someone is in a better situation than you. The only person that can change that is you, so what are you gonna do? You going to be like the rest of these people moping around, or are you going to be a Different Individual? You Choose…
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well in my personal life you know I like to go to a lot of bars. If my best friend was visiting the area I would take them to a few places around the city of Philadelphia. Have a drink or two eat at a variety of places throughout the week. Just show them a good hospitable time. Love park is a tourist attraction but if we were really going to have a good time we could go to Atlantic City and have some fun at the casinos. It’s only an hour and some change for the ride. Mine as well go to both city’s in a weeks vacation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Father definitely played a huge role in my life as well as part of my success. Even though we had many differences as I was growing he managed to mold me into the person I am today. He raised me to be Respectable, Honorable, and all around the board Knowledgeable.
