We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonia Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tonia, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say two factors: Clarity. You really have to be clear on who you serve and why. Consistency. It is important to be consistent with your brand. Your brand is a reminder to those who don’t you, your brand also is a representation of your company.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Tonia Morris, Founder & CEO started Simply HR 12 years ago. My first thought is to work with small businesses and provide HR Consultancy only. I quickly learned a shift in the workplace was taken place. We went from three generations to five generations in the workplace, many organizations were challenged on how to attract and retain a workplace that was changing with multiple generations. I became a Millennial speaker helping organizations understand the Millennials. I quickly notice it wasn’t how to understand the Millennials, it was how do all the generations get along. So I pivot to become the Generational Connector- helping organization create an inclusive workplace one generation at a time. Initially, it was a challenge because of so many stereotypes of the millennials coming into the workplace. I thought there has to be a better way- I added the training aspect to my firm. My signature and most requested training topic was Generational Inclusion known as G&I. This training really helped organizations understand the different dynamics in today’s workplace. I’ve seen an increase in employee engagements, elimination of communication barriers, and high retention, I am proud to bring something different and new to the workplace. Simply HR, Inc. is a Human Resources Consulting and Training firm based in Georgia. As the number one resource for connecting generations in the workplace, we make it our mission to bridge the generation gap and build generationally friendly workplaces. Organizational change can be messy, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether change involves mergers, diversity & inclusion, compliance, performance, or transforming your workplace culture for good- we have a proven track record of success I want the world to know that it is possible to reimagine the workforce with five+ generations in the workplace. We have to be intentional about it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had to put together an itinerary for a girl’s weekend I would it has to be in the spring. Fo me the spring herein Atlanta is awesome. The weather is about 70 degrees we start the morning off with breakfast. In midtown, a Broken Egg would be one of my favorite breakfast spot in midtown. We have the tasty shrimp and grits to start off. After eating breakfast, we would hop to many art festivals in the city. After hopping around we will definitely have to try slutty vegans for lunch. From there I would take them to Phipp Mall for a shopping experience. We would hang out at Ponce City Market We would end the evening at Sage Fire & Grill
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say Coach Darynell Jarvey with Incredicble One I give credit to. When I first launched my business I wasn’t as clear nor did I have the confidence i have today. I transistion from a 27 year career in Human Resources, so I had the employee mindset. Having Darnyell as a coach helped me shift my mindset from an employee to successful business. I was able to provide services to my clients at a high level .
