We had the good fortune of connecting with Tom Cheshire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tom, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have had art and music in my life for as long as I could remember. I was drawing and writing songs at ten years old. It just made sense. Creating brings me so much joy. One day I decided to take it to the next level. It has been an amazing journey.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always written songs. I’ve always recorded them and performed them. I think I started getting pretty good at it in my early 20’s. I played in several bands and wrote with some of my best friends. We put out our own records and made our own merchandise and toured the country. Of course there have been challenges but things really did start going well when I decided to do things on my own terms, and become my own boss, you know march to the beat of my own drum. I do everything now under the name TCB, that’s Tom Cheshire Band and Tom Cheshire Business and the Tom Cheshire Brand, which is a record label and clothing and art line. We have our first record coming out under the name Tom Cheshire Band, it is called EVERYTHING IS NEW AGAIN and will be out on March 8th on all streaming sites.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday – I would take them to Aurora Coffee in Little 5 Points then we would take a nice walk on the Belt Line. Grab a burrito at El Myr again in Little 5 Points and go shopping for records, clothes, etc. Then go to the Star Bar that evening to see my friend Rodney Leete host the Local Comedy Show.

Tuesday – Get up early, and take a walk through Piedmont Park and head to the High Museum. Maybe do a late lunch, early dinner at The EARL in East Atlanta.

Wednesday – Walk the Belt Line again to Cabbagetown and grab a bite at Carroll Street Cafe, then have a few pints of beer on the outside deck of 97 Estoria.

Thursday – Take a hike up and down Stone Mountain, maybe rent a bicycle and go for a ride around it.

Friday – Take an hour drive out to Athens GA and eat, record shop, walk around, etc. It’s a great college music town.

Friday – Walk through Virginia Highland and shop and get sushi at Ocean Wave and Sons.

Saturday – Get brunch at Manuel’s Tavern and go to a Rock n Roll show at either the Star Bar or the EARL.

Sunday – Take a nice walk or hike and get a bite to eat at ElMiriachi and enjoy their outside patio.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to my mother Patricia Rodriguez Kirkwood Cheshire who passed away on October 1st 2023 losing her 2 year battle to cancer. She was a dreamer and an artist and a dancer and a fighter. She was so brave. Love you Mom.
