We had the good fortune of connecting with Toi cheri Indigoz Shoes Designer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toi cheri, every day, we hear about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Indigoz Shoes was developed by market research, everyday living, and the want to provide a solution to a problem. The market research I did was simple, from observing people walking around and participating in different events from social to corporate we notice that people complained a lot about their shoes whether the shoes were designer or not, not being comfortable after a certain period of time, and what was noticed was the poor structure of the shoes and it not being made to be comfortable. I also noticed while living my everyday life and working at Nordstrom that people always asked for a shoe that was stylish but also comfortable and because the selections were minimal in the designer looks I had to always go a size up in their shoe size just for the shoe to be half way comfortable. With that being said Indigoz Shoes became a solution to a problem, providing innovative designer looks, that had the maximum comfort provided by our specialty insoles with arch boosters that we are patent pending on. I am pushing the agenda of healthy footcare, while still looking amazing in your shoe selection from Indigoz Shoes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Indigoz Shoes is a designer shoe brand that provides maximum comfort, pushing healthy footcare. Because we focus on innovation and being designer, plus comfort that definitely sets us apart in the shoe industry. Indigoz Shoes, has showcased in numerous fashion weeks, with many more to come and we have been recognized as one of the first minority owned true shoe designers to showcase in Paris fashion week 2021, here in 2024 we are excited about new opportunities that our coming and us launching a whole new look and feel for Indigoz Shoes in spring of 2024. With hard work and determination and never giving up no matter the mistakes or ups and downs we are pushing forward and looking forward to a successful 2024. The road hasn’t been easy, but with challenges comes rewards, lessons have been learned from manufacturing errors, investors errors, and business structure errors (having more employees then we were prepared for). From this came take aways and now the brand is coming back stronger and better than ever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is building up everyday and there are so many new places that have popped up, with the weather being cold right now everything would be set for inside so I definitely would want them to visit the “High Museum” and the “Trap Museum” I would have them eat at “Milk & Honey” for brunch, have dinner at “Atlanta Steak Market” and also “Batsi Lounge”. These are just some of the numerous places they could visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would first like to recognize God, the one who gave me the vision and the ability to create my business, secondly I would like to give a shout out to the Nordstrom Corporation. By working at Nordstrom, I learned the structure, numbers, and customer service of business that makes it successful and long lasting. I became my department lead, and then soon after, graduated Nordstrom FNL ( Future Nordstrom Leaders) Program. This set me up for success with building my business and knowing exactly what I should do with running a retail business dealing with shoes. I would recommend anyone who wants to sell their designs in a boutique, e-commerce, or department store to work at Nordstrom, they go above and beyond for you as an employee, by educating you in the retail industry and also helping you become a successful business owner.
