Meet Tk James | Chief Operation Officer (COO)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tk James and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tk, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success has been our WHY. Knowing what you are in business for gives you a road map that nothing can alter. When you lock into why you want to be “successful” and truly strive for that, you can accomplish whatever you set out to. No amount of no’s or deterrents can stop someone’s determination when they know what they are truly in business for. If it is something you believe in, lock in on that reason you want the success and keep going no matter what.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Top Flight Security is a team of security experts specializing in multifamily, corporate, and construction site security patrol. Being that we are from the tech era, we to implement the latest technology into our practices. Not only are we able to streamline a lot of dated practices, but it also ends up being more cost-effective for our clients. We pride ourselves on providing our clients with budget-friendly options without compromising the quality of service.
There are always going to be hurdles to overcome when you’re starting a business. Our differentiating factor was and is determination. No matter what obstacles were presented, the determination to figure it out and prosper was always top of mind. With so much access to information, it truly makes it hard to have excuses for not figuring it out. The obstacles are the lessons, and if you view them like that, you will not go astray. As you continue, those lessons become the tools necessary to grow and scale.
As two guys from the south side of Atlanta, we weren’t always allotted the option or opportunities. This is why we try to give our employees the tools to have their own if that is their interest. Our company was started to provide opportunity and leave a positive mark on the community and hopefully the world as we grow. Starting, we believed that if we were aligned with our reasons for wanting to be a household company, the success would come, as it has.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I’m out for a good time I would have to say Sivas Midtown. They have great food, hookah, drinks, and atmosphere.
My favorite rooftop is Tiny Lou’s at Hotel Clermont. They always have a great crowd and the views are amazing. Plus if you’re feeling risky, you can go downstairs to the Clermont Lounge.
For brunch, you can probably catch me at Toast on Lenox. The chef there really has it figured out, and reservations are highly recommended.
For a club vibe, I have to go with Tongue & Groove on a Friday night. Two of my favorite DJs, JayEnvy and Weaponz always provide a diverse set that keeps the place rocking.
The best late-night eats goes to Kabob Land on Piedmont Rd. Best kabobs you’re going to find in the city, and they stay open until 4 am on the weekends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My inner circle has played a major part in the success of our businesses. From my friend group to my business partners, they have all contributed to the success. I never wanted to do any of this on my own, and I’ve been blessed to have a supporting cast that wants only the best for me and my endeavors. When you find individuals like that, you hold them close because they can be far and few.
