Hi Tk, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Juggling the roles of a parent, a full-time catering business owner, a hairstylist , and a loving wife, the most cherished achievement has been weaving a tapestry of support and understanding in our family. Through the ebb and flow of life’s demands, we’ve created a haven where love, commitment, and shared dreams flourish, creating generational wealth, and leaving an indelible mark on our journey together.

What should our readers know about your business?
Sumthin Different Kitchen is not just a business; it’s a culinary narrative woven with passion and innovation. What sets us apart is the commitment to infuse every dish with a unique twist, creating an unforgettable dining experience. I’m most proud of the resilience that brought us here, overcoming challenges in the competitive culinary landscape.

The journey wasn’t easy; it demanded relentless dedication. Overcoming challenges meant embracing each setback as a stepping stone, learning and evolving. The lessons learned are engraved in our recipe for success – adaptability, a relentless work ethic, and an unwavering belief in the uniqueness we bring to the table.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For an unforgettable week with my best friend, I’d start with a culinary adventure at Sumthin Different Kitchen, savoring unique flavors. We’d explore local gems like the vibrant Farmer’s Market, indulging in fresh produce and handmade delights. Evenings would be reserved for the trendiest gastropubs and cozy cafes, soaking in the local vibe.

Midweek, we’d embark on a cultural journey, visiting museums and art galleries, appreciating the city’s creative spirit. The weekend calls for a scenic escape, hiking trails or a beach day, relishing nature’s beauty. Evenings would unfold at live music venues or a laid-back rooftop bar.

The adventure continues with a mix of adventure and relaxation – perhaps a thrilling escape room experience followed by a rejuvenating spa day. The week culminates in a farewell dinner at a top-tier restaurant, toasting to an unforgettable time filled with laughter, exploration, and the essence of the city’s spirit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to thank God. Without supernatural favor and a sound mind granted by divine grace. Secondly, Acknowledging my exceptional husband Javawn’s unwavering support and investment in my ideas is both a privilege and a heartfelt recognition of the bedrock upon which our shared dreams thrive. His daily contributions, whether big or small, have been the catalyst for my growth, and I am deeply grateful for his belief in me. Lastly My kids will forever fuel me for my continuing greatness.
