We had the good fortune of connecting with Tisha Phillip and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tisha, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for Silky Slumberzzz while working as a NICU nurse. I wanted to design products that would help solve a preventable problem that I frequently saw affecting babies not only in the NICU but in everyday life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Silky Slumberzzz is a Baby Company that specializes in Satin Baby Products. All of our Baby Products helps decrease and minimize hair balding and hair loss in babies. We designed and sell the first and only satin covered baby pillows that protects against hair loss and flat head syndrome. We also provide satin covered baby loungers, satin nursing pillows, satin blankets, and satin crib panels. We’ve all seen babies with that bald spot on the back of their heads; Our products helps prevent that and are designed just for babies. Customers are raving about our one of a kind products. The reviews have been  phenomenal and parents are thanking me for designing such helpful products that actually works. All of our baby products are available at www.silkyslumberzzz.com

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite things about Atlanta is the black influence and culture here. If my best friend was in town I would take them to some amazing black owned restaurants for Brunch and Bottomless mimosas of course. My favorite brunch places just to name a few are Toast and Lennox, Negril ATL, Atlanta Breakfast Club, Garden Parc Brunch, Spice house, Ms. Icey’s Kithcen and Bar and The Real Milk and Honey. I would definitely take them to ZuCot Gallery and Trap Music Museum to check out some art. I would take them to Piedmont Park for a picnic and bike riding along the Belt Line. I would take them to see a band play and grab some drinks at Rich and Pour or Ten Atl Bar & Lounge. With so much to do in Atl, a weekend wouldn’t be long enough.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely have to start by giving thanks to God, my Mother, Sharon Watson, and my Cousin, Reachelle Moses. I believe anything is possible with God and after praying for months the idea for my Innovative products came to me. I have been so blessed to have a supportive mother and cousin. From the time I called my Mother at 3 am in the morning to tell her about this new idea I had, she has supported me in every way possible. From introducing me to my manufacture to shipping orders for me while I was away travel nursing. My cousin Reachelle, has also been there every step of the way, from promoting my products on social media to overseeing my video shoot to helping with expos. My family, friends, co workers, and even customers have been so supportive and encouraging through my entire entrepreneurship journey and the love and support I’m receiving has been astonishing and a huge blessing. I am grateful for each and every person that has aided in success thus far in Silky Slumberzzz. Thank you to Ms. Parletta, my co worker from Emory Midtown NICU, who bought products from me faithfully every pay check. Thank you to Janiyah , Raechelle Davis, and My sorority sister Ashley Woods, who allowed their babies to be apart of my first product photo shoot. Thank you to all my friends and everyone I know that bought products from me and who helps spread the word about my products. Thank you to Falenica McKinney, who also stepped up to help facilitate my video shoot and helped find and work expos. Thank you to my friend Katiana Benn, another entrepreneur, who sent me pictures every week of her son using Silky Slumberzzz products. Thank you to my brother in law; Omar Derby, of Spot Lyt, LLC, who directed my video shoot and referred me to opportunities to help grow my business. Thank you to Sele Birchwood, Head of Auto Divison for Truevestments.com and Owner of EFG Athlete training program, who me encourages, motivates, and listens to me while giving insightful and useful business advice. I am on an incredible journey and I thank everyone who has played a role. I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I have with out each and every ones support.
