We had the good fortune of connecting with Tirrick Obadiah Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tirrick Obadiah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always had a flame burning deep down inside of me which prompted a sudden urge for me to become the leader of my own creative thoughts and ideas. Something has always been there burning. I had a natural born passion that allowed me to mold visions instantly which I realized was one of my gifts. I knew from an early age that I wanted to walk into greatness in my own special way. I wanted to display to the world the ideas that lived on the inside. I can remember having amazing entrepreneurial influences around me starting with my late father “James Moore”, an entrepreneur who I admired for his strong business sense. As I grew older, I noticed that I had a profound appreciation for the independence and freedom that came along with owning a business. I also enjoyed the additional perks such as having full control of one’s salary, schedule, and most of all its creative control. Of course along with the perks, there are also risks, but that is all part of the overall process that makes being a business owner so exciting.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a serial entrepreneur and entertainment industry professional, I happened to be bitten by the creative bug from an incredibly young age. I always tell people that I did not choose this artistic life, it chose me. I really did not have much of a say in the matter. God had a plan for me from conception and it was up to me to pursue the purpose that was ordained over my life. I started off by styling hair as well as composing music/recording in the studio when I was just 11 years old. Eventually, I began working in high-end salons while entering theatrical productions, casting, screenwriting, and producing/directing film, television, theatre, and music. What sets my brands apart from others is my three-part theory: development, precision, and strategy. Proper development is the main key point that sets the foundation for the direction of the overall idea. Once the development has been cemented, then and only then does my team master the precision and tone that has been set. Lastly, we finalize a strategy to properly introduce the produced idea to the masses in the most professional manner possible. Nothing leaves the table until it is perfected by not only myself, but my entire team. I am proud of being one of the individuals who has chosen to travel this journey called “Destiny”. I knew I did not want my time to run out before attempting to climb the ladder of success. Leaving the world without ever knowing why I was sent was not an option. I got where I am today by staying consistent and never giving up even when the odds were against me. As a business owner, I became accustomed to adjustments. That is the only way things will work for a leader. I have always stayed mindful that until I fulfill my purpose, my purpose will not be fulfilled. Entrepreneurship will present many challenges, but I had to stay focused and determined even during obstacles. One of the many lessons that I have learned is that nothing worth holding onto comes easy. The greater your vision, the greater the work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to visit my area, I would first invite them into my home for a tour which would include showing them my home office where all the creative magic happens. I would be sure to take them down memory lane by telling them the back stories behind the many awards, recognitions, and trophies. During their weeklong stay we would experience brunch spots, 5-star dinner reservations, art museums, nature trail walks, historic sightseeing, rooftop cocktail lounges, amusement parks, church services, etc. I would end their visit with a beautifully wrapped gift that would symbolize our close friendship. True friendship is rare, but a life-time true friendship is even more rare. It is important to build a solid foundation and cherish every moment given.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to take this time to give a special shoutout and thank you to the following individuals and/or groups who have contributed to my overall success, career, and growth: Stephen T. Morris/My loving fiancé and soon to be spouse (you are my everything and all I do is for us), James Moore (dad you are my hero), Renet Moore (mom you are my rock), sisters, brothers, in-laws, Freemasonry fraternity, Alexsandera Smith (thank you always being there), Stanley E. Morris (you have been such a supportive friend and brother-in-law), Barbara L. Beaufort (thank you for being such a powerful presence as a manager over my companies), and a huge thank you to everyone who has every worked under my leadership; I could not have done it without the hard work that you all have contributed to my visions, missions, and goals.
