We had the good fortune of connecting with TInisha Gold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TInisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Becoming an entrepreneur was inevitable. I was twelve years old when I first started my own baby-sitting company and I grew up where my adoptive mother, a first generation American immigrating from Kingston, Jamaica provided us the example of entrepreneurship. She showed us what it meant to serve others in any profession. Our mother was a nurse, real estate investor, and a childcare provider. Growing up I learned you can work full time and own your own business. Still it wasn’t until a few years ago it just made sense to start a freelance design agency. I’ve had over 30 positions in various fields of sales, marketing, and advertising. I served for so many years in marketing and administrative support substantially now I’ve taken the quantum leap into growing my small business and becoming the owner of Gold Vision, a freelance agency, helping underdog businesses grow and market their brands.

At twenty-four years old when I first moved to Atlanta hoping to rehabilitate myself and find purpose. My first job here in Atlanta I found myself working in Trump real estate sales and living outside the perimeter. At the time I pursued a career in healthcare but eventually I made the tough decision to follow my heart to communicate stories. It was then that I started thinking about what kind of job would be more in line with my creative storytelling talents. So I made a tough decision at 28 years to enroll in an advertising portfolio school in Atlanta, The Creative Circus. In 2018 I completed a User Experience (UX) Design program at General Assembly. Learning UX with a foundation in art direction and copywriting has opened so many professional doors I would have never imagined. For that last ten years I’ve been blessed with opportunities to work in top markets such as New York, Los Angeles, and now Atlanta. I’ve been able to gain so much valuable experience serving as a reliable creative resource for so many fantastic brands.

Even though I had no clue what I was truly signing up for by choosing a career in creative advertising, it has been a thrilling thirteen year journey which has led me to starting my own business. Today I get to live my passion by helping brands tell their stories with strategic creative experiences.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
First let me say everyday as an entrepreneur what keeps me busy professionally. I’m always fighting imposter syndrome and owning a freelance business has come with its challenges. I stay busy by constantly evolving as a creative business owner in the marketing industry, it requires so much innovation, perseverance and good relationships. We know to maintain good relationships, it is a must I give my time and energy. Lastly, what keeps me busy professionally is that I’ve been able to gain valuable experience in Atlanta; connecting with fellow creative powerhouses across industries, in music, film and advertising. I stay busy meeting, photographers, writers, developers, and so many other fellow artist. Personally I’m grateful to the community of friends and family connections we’ve been blessed with here in Atlanta. They help us daily build a strong village for our family and professionally.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to the city of Atlanta and the surrounding communities like Alpharetta, Buckhead, Smyrna, Conyers, Tucker, West End, Lindbergh and all all over. When I first came to the city in 2007 with $13.00 and a dream. Even in 2014 I briefly moved Northeast and after falling in love, getting married my husband and we moved back to Atlanta in 2017, where we were blessed to give birth to our daughter born at Northside Hospital in 2020. Attending the Creative Circus, an advertising portfolio school was one of the best experiences of a lifetime. So for all the bat shit crazy things that happen in the city, there’s still a holy magic and divine love flowing from Atlanta with a level of hope that if you tap in there’s no stopping what you can become. I’m so thankful that Atlanta continues to provides us with professional growth, spiritual enlightenment, lifelong friends and a place to call home.
