We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina C. Hines and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tina, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
One of my favorite books (and one that is a prequisite when working with me) is The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz.

I read this book as I was coming out of a bout with clinical depression. While it speaks of the relationships we have with others (romantic or otherwise), I read it from the perspective of self-love. When you are dealing with depression, many fears and assumptions come to the surface that challenge what you know or believe to be true about yourself.

I liked how Don Miguel uses the analogy of healing wounds through three simple steps: truth (opening the wound), forgiveness (cleaning the wound), and love (strong medicine to heal). The messages in the bok are a reminder that we will go through life’s challenges and we will also come out of them. We simply have to learn how to accept ourselves (versus reject ourselves) just the way we are . . . without conditions.

The Mastery of Love will forever be in my arsenal of resources because it’s a constant reminder that I am good enough, strong enough, intelligent enough, and that I can make it out of any storm that shows up in my life as long as I love me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others . . . I can share that I utilize my gift of clairvoyant in my transformation practice. My gifts allows me to connect with women on a deeper level (versus surface) to tap into the obstacles blocking their authentic happiness. It’s been said that working with me is like talking to a true sister because of my unique straight-no-chaser approach to situations and how I easily identify simplistic solutions. I tell my clients, “I am not emotionally attached to your shyt, which is why it’s not complicated to create a plan of action to change it.”

The journey to where I am was not easy. Honestly, the back story is that I was minding my business in my corporate career of over 30 years as an executive assistant to a ceo in philanthropic. Then one day it felt like I was falling apart. That’s when I discovered I was suffering from clinical depression and needed to work on my own personal healing. I took some time away and escaped to Anguilla, BWI for a bit of soul searching. As I was dealing with the depression, I was also experiencing a spiritual awakening. It was all new to me and very, very uncomfortable.

After learning that I was a fifth generation clairvoyant and spending months in therapy, my job was no longer as fulfilling as it was in the past. I felt there was something bigger that I was supposed to be doing. Little did I know, I had already laid down the foundation by inviting women to my home for intimate discussions on self care and self love. I knew there were other women like me who suffered from depression, felt lost and needed a safe space to have candid conversations about our lives.

Meditation was one of the practices that was an integral part of my healing journey. It was through meditation that one of my mentors, Deepak Chopra, asked “Who am I?” That one question inspired me to explore deeper within who I was outside of being a mom, daughter, assistant. After answering that question, I received guidance that the next leg of my journey was to work with women to heal old emotional wounds through coaching and energy healing. Coupled with 3 decades of skills working in philanthrogy, pharmaceutical, and media, I added on my certification in life coaching and the rest is history as they say.

One of the key components of my coaching practice is healing retreats. This was part of my healing journey and I felt it was necessary to create a similar experience for women who are serious about taking a journey of self discovery. The retreats take place in Anguilla, Bali, and Mexico. A safe and sacred space is created for women to nurture their mind, body, and spirit. During the weeklong retreat, participants are guided through a series of exercises that allow them to begin the journey of identifying, processing, and releasing emotional pain. No woman has ever returned home the same.

I want the world to know that women are reclaiming their power in so many areas and I am here to help them reach that goal. it starts with healing. There is a song by James Fortune entitled The Curse is Broken that reminds us that the mistakes of the past are just that , , , the past and it is not who we are going forward. We are all given a special gift to serve. Mines just happens to be a gift that helps, heals, and guides women towards their authentic happiness. Whatever that looks like for them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a challenging question, because I don’t really hang out at the young age of 53. I am always working towards protecting my energy since I feel a lot.

However, one area that I do enjoy is Ponce City Market. It’s a nice place to chill with your favorite wine or beer, walk, bike or scooter the Beltway to a variety of sites like the gafiti murals or simply people watch. There are a plethora of dining options including the Rooftop.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my besties, Tammy McDonald and Tanya Claudio, for their love, encouragement, and guidance. They truly are the epitome of what a true sisterhood looks and feels like. Always available to be a sounding board when I need guidance and clarity.
