We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Brown-Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Through my journey of having to endure multiple of trails in life became my My need of wanting to a better person.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Sister’s Keeper was created from a personal need to become a better me and I’m very proud to have had my very conference in 2017 with speakers that included MC Lyte, Michelle Ghee, Teneshia Warner to name a few.

Although, I was able to have a my first conference it was a huge financial loss for me because I didn’t have my business structure in order properly.

I learned that in order to become a successful entrepreneur I needed structure from all levels of the small business sector. I’ve learned you have to believe in your brand whole heartily and not to deplete all of my personal resources in order to build the brand as well it will cost you mentally and physically if you don’t have help.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Being homeless music has always been my lifeline so when I was introduced to Renel Brooks-Moon who was the first black woman radio personality who was beautiful with swag and relatable.

Ylonda Calloway showed up at my door investigating me for welfare fraud however when she left my home she remained me that I can do much better and supplied me information which led me to a thirty year job with the City and County of San Francisco.,
