We had the good fortune of connecting with Timmesha Burgess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Timmesha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Most people say they started a business solely because they wanted to help people; I started businesses (many) because I first wanted to help myself! I’m no good to anyone if I’m trying to give from an empty cup!

I was tired of offering my value to companies that paid me crumbs for giving them gold and I was OVER IT! I never thought I’d ever go into creating a podcast that helped women and girls all over the world reclaim their power after sexual trauma. I never thought I’d create a clothing brand that isn’t about fashion but about a mission that reminds people of the powers they possess; and I never thought I’d write a book that help people turn anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts into their superpower— yet here I am!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In all transparency; I’m still not where “I’ve been shown” I’m going in bringing my brands to the world, but I’m on the path. If you’re wondering what I mean by “what I’ve been shown”— it means I had visions, dreams, and intuitive sparks about my life’s purpose and mission. To be honest, if I hadn’t had these inner awakenings; I would NEVER have started my brands. NOPE! It isn’t “easy” to say the least to carve out new terrain for others to also walk down long after you’re gone— any business owner can tell you this! But what came to me one day was, “I’m more afraid of the consequences of not having answered my own calling.”

Many times, I’ve questioned if I am on the right path because of the struggles, delays, barriers, and even people who don’t agree with what I say, do, and teach. But what I’ve learned on the path to building a successful business and brand is; you absolutely cannot have blossoming abundance without the rain and the dirt to fertilize them.

I’m proud to say that because I’ve created my podcast “Fireside Chats for Global Women- Because turning pain into power is sexy”; that I’ve helped women and girls in India, Paris, Africa, Saudi Arabia (literally all over the world), rise again after sexual trauma. I’m proud to know that my recent self-published book titled “Activate- Unorthodox philosophies that explore anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts as symptoms of suppressed superpower”, is helping men, women and children gain mental health and emotional intelligence. And lastly, I’m proud that the philosophies that my clothing brand “Alcheminity” expresses; helps to reawaken people to themselves.

The first campaign my clothing brand is spearheading right now involves the women and men fighting for their independence in Iran and all over the world really. The campaign’s philosophy is “Fear of Feminine Power is a Mental Disorder”. Talk about pushing boundaries!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well if anyone is any best-friend of mine; that would mean outdoor hikes, spa day, plant-based foods, and really really good wine. So the itinerary goes as follows:

First: We’d get up mid-morning and go for a hike either up Stone Mountain, Kennesaw Mountain, or take a walk through Arabia Mountain trail, or around the Chattahoochee at Cochran Shoals Trails. We’d probably work up an appetite after all this so…

Second: We’d have to drive to the other side of town “over the train tracks sorta-speak” to the historical Ralph David Abernathy; and hit up Tassali’s Raw Vegan for some good ole’ kale wraps. Then we’d walk down the street to Wadada’s for their smoothies and plant-based chocolate desserts.

Then later in the week we’re going all in: Jeju Sauna for some hip baths and body scrubs, to Ponce City Market for some festivities, the beltline, and then on to Chateau Elan to sip some of the worlds best cultivated wines and watch the sunset over the horizon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to thank my sister Jessica! I’m telling you now; while I was on the journey to building my brands I was also building myself… but first I had to fall. When I fell, she caught me. I cry as I write this now; because I know if it wasn’t for her silent yet POWERFUL support; I don’t know where I’d be.

I’d also like to thank Abraham Xiong (Owner of Georgia Government Contractors Association), Daryl Perry (Creator of “Business with Benefits podcast”, and Bernard Coleman, esp.. Anytime I needed some serious advice on how to leverage what I was working on; they’d provide their insight without hesitation. They were like my hidden earth angels and don’t even know it.
