Meet Tim Thomas | Outdoor Hobbyist & Pescador Expeditions

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tim, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My Business was created based off of my personal search and need for adventure and excitement. I have always found enjoyment getting up and going out the door. The older I have grown the more my journey expands to find adventures less ventured.
Through the years my close friends have become accustomed to joining me on new and exciting experiences. Overtime I realized there was real value in curating and making these experiences easily available. Specifically, I can remember the first emotional breakdown of a person who joined a overnight hike and camp. They were overwhelmed by their ability to come out and do something they never imagined. That person thanks me with a tear falling down their face. And that was the moment I decided to grab a logo and maker this a thing!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I received my BS in Business Marketing from Valdosta State University.
Most of my employment has been in Sales. I spent time in hospitality and customer service but, sales has really been what pays the bills. I have always been an exceptional leader and account manager. So when it comes to sales the most important thing was to work with a company that had a great product.
Working in sales is great; however, it was always clear that I wanted more. Years ago I realized how much the contracts I got signed really accrued. Being so great in sales, I realized I needed to sale my own product. Eventually I decided to package what I love. The outdoor adventure.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really like doing action packed experiences in the city. Unlike others eating at another restaurant won’t do much at all for me!
To have a good time I like to go down to Krog Street market and have a couple different international foods. This is followed by a couple of beers of course. After that I like to jump on the belt-line right outside the market. I jump on one of the app-driven scooters and head out on an adventure.
I like to ride down the beltine and stop at new restaurants for a bevvy or appetizer. I can ride from Krog Street pass Ponce and all the way to Piedmont Park.
I love meeting new and exciting people as well as support people selling their products or services. This Xpedition is best served on a Sunday!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am excited to give a HUGE shout out to my friends and family who have always dealt with my adventurous nature. There are so many people who tolerated my out-of-the-box adventure seeking. It so important that I take the time to let them know that if it wasn’t for them my enthusiasm to be myself would have been dwarfed.
For my neighborhood friends, Garison Stigall, Kenyetta Folks, Gordon & Kyle Griswould, Terrence Clarke and definitely my brother, I have to give a huge shoutout. Against parents wishes, you all came into the woods and explored day after day. We made adventures out of absolutely nothing. Fishing, 4wheelers, dirt bikes, sticks, ramps and dirt! There was always something to explore or a challenge to be had.
I definitely have to give a shout out to my family. My family has always embraced the outdoors and out-of-the-box thinking. If there was a sketchy whole in the ground that may be dangerous to jump or explore my dad would be the first to jump or dig in. We have never shy’d away from exploration.
Also, I have to give a huge shout out to my current friends from college forward. they have been through the gauntlet. I wouldn’t dare try to name them all but, if you don’t have a sketchy story with me you aren’t on the list. Haha! My friends have kayaked, camped out, swam ocean water with sharks, hiked several miles and attended juke joints deep in the woods. They are the reason I found my gift!!
