We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Battle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tim, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
My name is Tim Battle. I’m originally from Riverdale GA. Majority of my life I have spent time on the baseball field… So now God has allowed me to give back to my community. I am the owner and operator of Battle Groundz Baseball. In 2003 I was blessed with the opportunity to play professional baseball with the New York Yankees. The Yankees selected me in round 3 of the 2003 amateur draft. The same season I was diagnosed with Bcell Lymphoma in my left 4th rib. Immediately after completing my 6 months of chemotherapy treatments I went back to have a 14 year career in professional baseball. This game has always been a passion of mine and its something I take very seriously. Baseball has taught me a lot and has done a lot for me in my family. With that I plan on giving back to our communities the professional experience that I have attained so that they can achieve the same level of success and more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we would go to all the brunch spots on ATL and get that first important meal in. From there I would recommend Raw in midtown for lunch. They have great sushi and other things that are amazing on the menu. After we would go to all the main attractions in Atlanta. The aquarium, Coca-Cola factory, Braves game, Hawks, ATL United and then falcons depending on the season. We got Six Flags and Whit water too to have some fun. People in ATL are super cool and laid back so no matter where you are you will always have a good time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my parents. Loretta Weaver and Tim Battle Sr. They allowed to to be active as a kid and live out my dreams. My parents are always present to this day. I can’t thank them enough. Also my sister. Racquel has been a major support system for me as well during my career and even in the process of running my travel ball organization. Also all the coaches that have ever been an inspiration in my life. Wouldn’t be here without them.
