We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Hi! Well, I have been an Atlanta resident for 21 years, but I was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, by my Mother and Stepfather. I come from a large, extended family, where my mother is 1 of 11 children, and I have 25 first cousins. My Parents have always been my leading influences and biggest supporters; modeling hard work, dedication and persistence, and the part they play in your overall personal happiness. I naturally observed and admired how they treated others with dignity and respect, and gained an early understanding of it’s importance. That early realization can be credited for leading me into a career in social service and ultimately mental health counseling.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Yes, of course! I founded “True North Counseling and Wellness” in 2021. I had hope that alike the north star, that helps those who follow it, my clients would be led toward a purposeful destination. The mission of True North Counseling and Wellness is to help our clients create the best version of themselves through providing mental health awareness and counseling services. We specialize in supporting clients that may be dealing with depression, anxiety, stress management and trauma. I also support clients through navigating familial issues, and relationship issues, that might negatively weigh on their daily life. I find contentment in equipping my clients with tools that will propel them into a place of inner peace and self-actualization, thus creating more personal growth and fulfillment. I credit my passion for wanting to positively impact the lives of others and mentorship from seasoned therapists as the reasons to why I am where I am today. My own 16+ years of experience in counseling are just a piece of the puzzle. It’s never easy to start your own business but I continued to stay the course and trust that I was walking in my purpose, by faith and not by sight. I leaned on peers in private practice when I faced challenges on the long and winding road to entrepreneurship. And, in this field, the biggest lesson I have learned is that you always have to prioritize your own self-care before you can assist others. I truly believe that individuals have the ability to evolve and they just need a helping hand to achieve this.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Atlanta is definitely a melting pot of people and activities. For recreational activities, I’d suggest biking or walking on the Beltline, especially when the weather is nice. Maybe hiking up Stone Mountain, or pickleball at a local court. There’s also the amusement center at Skyline Park on top of Ponce City Market.

For Nightlife, First Fridays or Jazz fridays at the High Museum, Speakeasy at the James Room or Forum Cocktail Company.

Brunch at Le Petit Marche’ or South City Kitchen or Negril Village

Dinner at The Consulate or Hal’s

Shopping at Lenox or Phipps mall or Buckhead Village

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shout out to my mother, who has played a significant role in my life by offering guidance, love, and support in every endeavor I have faced. She is an example of strength and unconditional love. My village, who continues to challenge me to grow in different areas and who continues to uplift and encourage me.
