Meet Tiffany Turcotte | Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Turcotte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I had been working a 9-5 insurance assistant job but photography had always pulled on my heart strings. You know that feeling you get when you just know “this is not what I want to do for the long run”, that is how I felt working a desk job. I was gifted a camera for my 30th birthday by my father who loves photography and right around that time I called it quits at my job and learned everything I could with photography – I watched YouTube videos, tik toks and bought lighting equipment, backdrops, the whole 9 yards. I told my friends “I’m taking your pictures like tomorrow get ready” and once I did that first shoot… I knew this was exactly what my heart needed. Having a creative outlet is truly something special. I encourage everyone I meet that if you even have a thought about something you need to go for it, and go for it 200%. Be all in. I started taking pictures of my friends and their families and then I wanted to give a try for “branding” and making reels and videos for people so I landed the job with Erin Reape (owner of 3 Pure Barre businesses around north GA) and that is what kept me going. Erin took a leap of faith on a beginning photographer and I could never thank her enough. It is those people and the community who are willing to take a chance on beginners who keep our creative souls intact and keep us going. Right when I started, I found out my grandfather had won tons of awards for his pictures. My great grandfather on my mother’s side was the lead photographer of the Washington Post and covered NFL football games. I just know this is what I am meant to do!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from the world of 1 million photographers is that when I started, I wanted to be different right from the start and in my area there wasn’t anyone who did family photography sessions with a video included of that session. So, what I do is I take photos and video at the same time during the entire session and in return you receive a video keepsake about 1 minute long. It BLEW up, immediately I was booked out for 6 months, everyone wanted video sessions. I have always liked marketing and branding so I had the idea of a “Branding Package” as well so whoever booked the branding package would have access to all the video clips to be able to create there own content along with the reels that I make for them as well. I want to break the stigma of “being picture perfect” I knew right from the start that I do not want my family sessions to be posed, I want to document the raw and real images and it is the same for branding – action shots are worth more then posed – its capturing the real you. Its fun to hear “wow that was easy” after sessions because everyone let there guard down just a little to be able to capture those pictures.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would first go to my favorite bar (also where I bartend as during the week), J Michaels Prime Steakhouse – we would get some oysters and champagne and some fresh cocktails and then we would probably head over to the Avalon – we would get an espresso martini from Cafe intermezzo and eat a “girl dinner” (duh) (Ceasar salad and parmesan truffle fries) – this is a time to relax! I am a wife and a mother of 2 crazy kids, a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl so I have my hands full on top of keeping up with the demands of my photography schedule so a night in the city would be sitting and relaxing at any restaurant possible.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, Erin Reape gave me a shoutout but I honestly believe she would be the shoutout in my story as well! She took a chance on me and booked me for all 3 of her locations at Pure Barre and 2 events for Pure Barre as well. She has spread my name across north ga and I couldn’t thank her enough.
