We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was starting my business I was thinking to myself that it was something for me to do and was going to make money. I start thinking about what my business should be and what the name of my business should be. I put a lot of thought into the process of where to start, where to get my item from and what the prices should be. I did about three months of research on everything I need to know how to start my online boutique store.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my boutique is online so the website is open 24/7. Me as the business owner I am not on my website 24/7. Also what sets me apart from others is my prices are low. And my shipping prices are low. What I am most proud of is that I have something that I can leave my kids. What I am most excited about is the next things I am working on to add to my business. I got where I am today with work, saving money, research and help. No it was not easy and it still is not easy right now. The way I overcome the challenges I walk away from them for a few days then I go back to them and come up with a way around them. The lesson I learned was to find things that can fit into my budget and if I know how to do something I will do it, then paying somebody that’s more money saved. I am a small business owner who is trying to make just like other small business owners who are doing the same thing as me and who have been doing this longer than me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend who was coming to town I would take them to Paint & Sip. If they want to go get their nails done I would take them to my favorite spot on Camp Creek (Lush Nail Bar). For something to eat we might go to The Juicy Crab, Kiku Japanese, Nancy Pizza, or Old Lady Gang. When it comes down to where I would go for drinks in my kitchen. All my friends and family know and can tell you I make the best drinks. My drinks are better than the ones you buy in the bar or club for $12 and up. I would have to tell you more about my drinks another time or like my mother always says I can show you better than I can tell you.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my spouse (John) who helped with the name of my business, the colors for the logo, and flyer design. Also I would like to give a shoutout to my daughter (Simone) who helped the flyers design and one of the lip gloss colors. A shout out to my mother (Bennie) who gave me ideas for t-shirt designs.
